Title: HM2 running slowish on laptop, any advice? Post by: muckthenuts on September 08, 2013, 03:35:49 AM Hey,
Title says it all really. I bought a reasonably good laptop just over a year ago and when i used hem with it initially i had no noticeable problems. However firing it up recently and playing 4 tables of zoom my laptop experiences a pretty annoying amount of slowdown, and this includes when hem is open in the background with no tables being played. Makes it pretty annoying/difficult to use tbh. Any advice at all? I'm pretty much a computer noob so would appreciate it dumbed down as much as poss lol. Post by: Longines on September 08, 2013, 08:24:01 AM You have a few options that vary in terms of cost and ball ache - a few off the top of my head:
Buy more RAM. Go to www.crucial.com/uk and run the scanner tool. That will tell you how much you currently have and the max amount the laptop can cope with. Usually dead simple to replace, there is likely to be a small panel on the base that just unscrews. Buy a SSD. This is a faster type of disk. The biggest performance boost you can give a laptop usually. Means you'll need to reinstall everything which can be a pain. Reinstall Windows. Is a pain but it will take you back to how it was a year ago without all the crap a PC naturally acquires after a year in use. |
