Title: Things that you are pleased about O/T Post by: Ginger on January 23, 2006, 03:14:09 PM I was wondering what to use my 500th post on, not wanting to waste it on any old thread as I am personally really chuffed that I am now a hero member. It may seem a small achievement to some people, but it has taken me nearly 7 months to get here! So, after much deliberating, I came up with the idea of this thread :D
So the question is..... What things are you personally really chuffed about, that may not seem such a big deal to others? Title: Re: Things that you are pleased about O/T Post by: TightEnd on January 23, 2006, 03:16:04 PM What a lovely idea
Congratulations on your 500..... p.s (start posting more again :D) Title: Re: Things that you are pleased about O/T Post by: Dingdell on January 23, 2006, 03:17:46 PM Playing cash last night at Luton and my kings cracking aces on the river......moving to the stud poker table and doubling my stack....all this after taking £200 at the slots........

I was/am pleased with that, even though i was actually pissed off about it last night - but for me it was a pleasing result when looked at sanely. So...11th in a festival event<g> That's an even better way of looking at it :) Self deal, but felt good at the table, and confident... for me a minor miracle. Title: Re: Things that you are pleased about O/T Post by: Poppet7 on January 23, 2006, 04:13:11 PM I am also pleased about my relationship with Leon.
We met in Malta on holiday when I was 14, he was 16. My Mum and his parents had got talking, and his younger sister and my sister had become friends, anyway... Mum told me to look at the blonde one, and I thought he was quite nice :D We managed to spend some time together getting to know each other, we walked around the beach together and then at the end of the night I asked him out and he said "I'll give it a go!" We spent the rest of the 10 days holiday together and when it was time to leave each other at Gatwick airport we were both really sad... I knew I liked him but didn't think it would last because he lived in Canterbury and I lived in Watford. We spoke on the phone a lot for the first 3 days after we'd arrived home and then on the Friday he called me and told me to get dressed, I had a feeling he was going to arrive at my house but didn't want to get my hopes up. Anyway about an hour later he arrives with his whole family in tow! We went out for lunch and I went back to Canterbury with them. After that we saw each other every 2 weeks, I'd go up on the train, a 3 hour long journey each way costing me £15 a time! Then I started going up every week and spending all the school holidays there. 4 years and 9 months on, we're still going strong. It makes me happy because we managed to get bthrough all the things that would be against us: 1. Holiday Romance 2. Long Distance Relationship 3. Young Love I'm pleased we've managed to last and pleased that we have a bright future ahead of us Poppet Title: Re: Things that you are pleased about O/T Post by: Trace on January 23, 2006, 04:23:30 PM I'm pleased that both my kids are healthy and that we have a roof over our heads.

That was all I was going to say - but then it got me thinking…..
As a kid back in the 60‘s, my mother told me of an old Greek saying “Rather an hour of freedom, than a lifetime of imprisonment”. I of course could not understand the meaning of the quote. At the time, I argued that an hour was far too short. My mother replied that some people, never even get an hour. In the year 2000 and at the age of 44, I not only understood what she meant - I craved that hour more than anything in my life. And so I left my old secure but meaningless life behind, and began a journey into the unknown. And apart from becoming a “pro” poker player - it has been an incredible journey of discovery. I have so much to be thankful for and feel so very humbled that my one hour has lasted nearly six years. I'm pleased I get to do the job I love without HAVING to do the job I love because of on-line poker. I'm pleased the job I love is 100% poker based. I'm pleased I went to the dentist last Friday to finally get my mouth sorted out. Despite the £900 bill, which I can only pay due to poker. Title: Re: Things that you are pleased about O/T Post by: Rod Paradise on January 24, 2006, 08:32:13 PM I'm pleased I went to the dentist last Friday to finally get my mouth sorted out. Despite the £900 bill, which I can only pay due to poker. Apparently a lot of people are taking cheap flights to poland - having a few days there - getting their teeth done & it's working out much cheaper.... Title: Re: Things that you are pleased about O/T Post by: MrMoves on January 24, 2006, 08:37:12 PM I don't fancy treking back to Warsaw if something goes wrong. The whole job can't be done in one or two sessions either, more like 4 or 5 over the course of a month, to allow for healing, etc. I'm sure it's a lovely place but a month in Poland doesn't appeal....

Once in the hospital it was a blur as the doctor said it was touch and go, i prayed so hard for her. After 2 hours she was reacting to the medication, and started to recover, We came home on Xmas eve, which was the best present ever. Now she is a healthy (naughty) happy girl , who started school last summer.
