Title: You are the referee
Post by: Longines on October 13, 2013, 06:30:55 PM
I run a kids team and this one came up today. At U15 they still have rolling subs i.e. a sub can go off and come back on as often as you want and there is no limit on the total number of substitutions made.

Team A make a sub before a corner and team B score from the corner. Before the restart it is noticed that the team A sub that was supposed to go off didn't and they had 12 players on the pitch.

WWYD?

Goal disallowed and take the corner again?

Complete the sub, let team a from kick off score.

Can the corner be allowed with the wrong number of players on the pitch?

the ref has allowed play to continue and the corner happens. Goal stands

I think Waz has the common sense solution, allow the opposition to score from the kick off

Am I reading this correctly?

Team A had 12 players on the field, Team B score from the corner.

Team A have broken the rules but we want to give them a goal back??

This would be my choice but the ref went with Celtic's choice. I couldn't make the match today so hearing this second hand but my team were team B - not happy.

If, after a goal is scored, the referee realises, before play restarts, that there was van extra person on the field of play when the goal was scored:
• the referee must disallow the goal if:
– the extra person was an outside agent and he interfered with play
– the extra person was a player, substitute, substituted player or team
official associated with the team that scored the goal
• the referee must allow the goal if:
– the extra person was an outside agent who did not interfere with play
– the extra person was a player, substitute, substituted player or team
official associated with the team that conceded the goal

Letter to the league on its way >:(

Oops, I read this wrong.  Got the teams round the wrong way round.

What waz said seems right.

Hello... Geo is correct???

Must be a misprint. If not, goal stands and the subbed player belatedly leaves the pitch.

Not a misprint. Team A had 12 on the pitch, team B score, goal disallowed.

Utterly ridiculous. Defies logic.

Madness. As this could be easily-ish manipulated.

Team A concedes as goal, sneaks a defender on when play is the other end... Type thing. Highly unlikely I know but the rules as it is allows it to, albeit, unlikely, to possible happen.

No, it can only be rectified before play has re-started I think.

Ok, yes the referee was wrong and it defies all logic, however for us to be totally sure we had to google and get the official rules, the referee had to make an instant decision and stand by it.

Bearing in mind its an U15 sunday league game, whereby the referee's are paid a relativly small amount of money and take copious amounts of abuse in return, these guys are far from professionals, and are often doing it for the love of the game.

Yes he was wrong, but really a letter to the league in my opinion is over the top, it happened, a freak incident, move on to the next game.

Erm we're talking the FA and junior football admin here so....

Fine the club. We'll come up with a reason later.
Fine the club again for not paying the first fine. The fact the league didn't write to you about the first fine is immaterial.
Fine the club when result cards get lost in the post.
Fine the club when you start sending them recorded and it inconveniences the results secretary (yes really...)
