Title: World Cup 2014 Brazil
Post by: aaron1867 on December 06, 2013, 12:36:36 PM
Let's see who we get in the draw today.

Apparently  with a bit of bad luck we could be a third seed?!

I'd say a nightmare group would be Brazil, Holland, England, USA.

I hope we get a tough group.  We're going to struggle to make much impact in any case, so would be good to have a couple of glamour matches early on.

The nightmare group is playing games in the heat for England

Regardless of who they get i will be keen to oppose them if in the "hot" group

Do you not think this pot seeding thing is just a joke? Holland Italy being third seed is just lol

it shouldn't matter what number of continents are in each group, just makes a mockery of the team who gets dropped in the third seed

classic!

I assume there will be interest in a £10-20 sweepstake nearer the time, top 4 places pay?

good luck to England chasing the ball for 70 minutes in the jungle against Italy

The only plus point in this, is that perhaps there is no 'likely' winner you would think at this point.

Argentina and France got nice draws

Argentina should shorten I think

Winner/Second in our group gets Colombia's group in Last sixteen

Joel Campbell for the gooners

Think France have shortened to much already would not rely on them even in that group

Iran, Bosnia and Nigeria.

Spread on Messi's goals anyone?

We are in a group where it is hard to predict a clear winner, but you have to fancy Uruguay. However we are in a group where if we get through we face Colombia, Japan, Ivory Coast or Greece in the next round. If we get through, it is not that bad.

Argentina have a fantastic draw, they'll win their group & will face either Swiss or french, so like Tighty said.... definitely a bet there!

Wy are we scared of Uruguay?

They have Suarez, and Cavani, our defence is weak.

Conditions will obv suit them as well.

they also have diego lugano likely to be there captain

has played 40 minutes for west brom all season and now cant run anymore

very good before his legs have gone if he starts they will not be a shoe in to beat anyone

If you change England into any other group swapping out the equivalent euro team, the only group worse for us would of been Spain.

basically uruguay is the same team as the one that got to the semis in 2010

look very over the hill in some areas

From Dan walker: I bet England don't play in Manus, watch this space!

Assuming they might switch the ko times/location of eng vs Italy & costs rica vs Uruguay to better suit tv audiences.

There was a twitter account (@FraudeMundial14)  set up nearly 24 hours ago to highlight Fifa's fraud, they said they could name argentina's group and got it correct.  Lucky guess or was it rigged?

the whole uruguay thing seems v weird to me, looking at their squad they look v v weak except their forwards. I dont know if were that bad defensively either.

Suarez and Cavani yes, with Forlan a bit past it

I read that a lot of the side behind them is ageing

they defend very deep due to lack of pace at the back and look to hit the front two on the break

I would think our strategy would be to not lose the first two games, and then beat Costa Rica. Typical world cup group stuff

Title: Re: World Cup draw today
Post by: pleno1 on December 07, 2013, 03:28:20 PM
yeah all so weird the way people are going on imo. we have an OK italian team, what looks like an old, poor Uruguaying team with 2 world class players and a relatively easy draw if we manage to get through.

Germany can do that - they're likely to get more than two week's use out of it.

Surprised they don't just steam into someone else's and just put a load of towels down.
