Title: satellite icm hand
Post by: willrobrobu on December 11, 2013, 04:32:56 PM
was reading hotter 55 icm thread with interest as my icm knowledge is poop tbh.

i'm 6/6 from 70-odd in a $212 ongame live event satty. 1-5 get $3k package, 6th gets $200, 7th plus were paid nought.
play has been very poor and since 8-9handed exceptionally tight, except from bigstack who had called off a 10bb shortie ship with K3s on FT and was more active than the rest, though not ballistic by any means.

stacks:
stacks are (approx):

UTG 6bb
HIJ 12bb
CO 18bb
BUT 22bb
SB 50bb
BB (me) 6bb

folds to blinds and sb bigstack ships on my bb, and i'd estimate he was shipping just shy of ATC. i have ATo. fwiw utg has 0.1bb more chips than me, we both have fractionally under 6bb.

would like to hear peoples responses as to what they would genuinely do in-game.

Throw up and hope laptop isn't cleared in time to allow the call, as a serial satellite stack spewed will be interested in this

I think this is probably a fold when we have a sembalance of fold equity and other people may make mistakes. If we didn't act after the big stack this could be different

Would be very surprised if this isn't a fold.

Don't see how we do anything other than sigh call with this stack layout.

I thought it'd be a sigh call too, ICMIZER doesn't like it though

If the big stack is going to just raise and win every hand I think that'd weight this more towards a call, then again we're hardly in a fantastic spot even if we do double.

he deffo wasn't shoving any 2 cards, he had already given me a walk on final table at least once when i was short.

an orbit later in same spot with 2x 4bb shortstacks icmizer makes it a call i think

I did exactly the same thing, I know Rob from another forum so already checked it out. ICMIZER doesn't even like AKs wtf?

We should probably be taking a negative edge here sometimes though, given our stack and table placement. ICMizer can't factor in the effects of the blinds going up or the fact it might never fold around to you given that the big stack is on your right.

Maybe against the described SB we can fold a -1% edge, but I think it would be a call vs some ppl, and I sure am folding any -0.5% hands.

I'd fold and look for the opportunity to ship into one of the three stacks on our left if, as you say, the big stack isn't playing every hand.

The 6BB stack and the 12bb stack should be calling very tight - the 12bb stack especially - and the 18bb stack likewise. I'd also try and manipulate the blinds so that they rise when it hits the fellow 6bb stack thus negating his slight advantage on us.
