Does anybody have any logic (asides from working hours) that they use for selecting best Day 1 to play?

I've got a tourney this weekend that has:

Flight 1 - 7pm tonight.
2 - Midday Saturday.
3 - 8pm Saturday.

Think the day 2 is noon Sunday.

What would your game selection be and why?

Definitely not Sunday at 8, since it's after day two, although this is an interesting concept. Perhaps should be passed on to rob ;)

So you make it to the end of Day 1 in 8pm Sunday you get to skip day2 and take a stack to Day 3?? Not sure this concept will catch on!!!!! ;) ;)

You start day two with the average stack and, if you cash, you then have to play a day one from a starting stack to get up to the average day 2 stack. If you don't, you lose the money.

Seems simple enough.

I wouldnt pick sunday either becuase you miss day 2.

I've come the conclusion I have wasted too much of my life worrying which day 1 to play events.

It's near as dammit random whether you get the softest day or not.

Just play the day which suits you best.

For the DTD deepstack, there is definitely a difference imo.  Chance of getting a bugger of a starting table is higher on the Friday evening compared to the Saturday afternoon flight.

Reasoning?  Higher ratio of pros and better players on the Friday against satellite winners and loldonkrecs like me.

I thought this too, the only difference being, you choose your day 2 stack and for your day 2 performance to be valid you have to make at least your chosen chip amount on day 1 the next day. Would you choose a modest stack or an enormous one is the question.

Most of the multi-bullet cash cows take a bullet on Friday ;)

By definition, if they're going to take another bullet there'll be there on the Saturday...

As most poker players think they are better than everyone else it shouldn't matter too much  :D

Yes but more of the one-bullet types will only turn up on the Saturday.

I'd pick the day where you're not gonna run JJ into QQ.

I must've misunderstood your post last night.

Quick, serious point on this note though - I tend to prefer to play on the one two days before day 2, so that if I make it, I can be guaranteed a good night's sleep, especially if you don't live that close to the venue. Also gives me the chance to, if I so desire, take another bullet the next day if I bust.

Forgive typos please.

I lime to play the sat afternoon session for the following reasons;

1) usually biggest field, I play for the enjoyment, I know I'm not as good as most so I want to put my £100 into the prize pool and get as many hours poker fun out of it as I can

2) bigger field means more go thru to next day, so theres more chance my rec skills can get lucky enough to bebin that top 20%

3) if I start at 2 pm, I can get back to doncaster before my local kebab shop shuts after running my JJ into any two cards
