Title: FA Cup live games Post by: aaron1867 on January 03, 2014, 05:33:58 PM It really does annoy me to see some of the games picked for live coverage at times & once again another shocker of chosen coverage, yet people moan about magic of FA Cup...
Blackburn v Man City (can understand this) Crawley v Bristol Rovers (really?) Forest v West Ham (can understand this) Derby v Chelsea (yeh, ok....) Man Utd v Swansea (pathetic choice) Until only recently I didn't realise how bad things are at Macclesfield until they drew us (Sheff Wed) in the cup. I thought this would be such a fantastic choice for a cup game & I am not seeing this with my Wednesday tinted specs on either! Man Utd v Swansea, already been showed live once & they both have plenty, why not give it to a much needed club, who are non league with a decent tie and possible upset. I have no idea on Crawley/Bristol Rovers choice either..... is it a derby, even so.....? Presume after being abandoned at half time and rearranged for round 3 day its obliged to show it?..and its off until 8 January already Title: Re: FA Cup live games Post by: tikay on January 03, 2014, 06:06:17 PM It really does annoy me to see some of the games picked for live coverage at times & once again another shocker of chosen coverage, yet people moan about magic of FA Cup... Think Filton (Concorde) & IKB's Clifton masterpiece. It's third round time in the FA Cup, that magical time when small clubs travel to the giants of the Premier League in the hope of causing an upset. With the above in mind, Spurs travel to the Emirates to take on Arsenal and if the match ends in a draw, we'll refund our usual markets. Title: Re: FA Cup live games Post by: horseplayer on January 03, 2014, 06:12:59 PM cant remember the exact stat but the viewing figures for Man United games on itv are so much larger than anyother side they basically have little choice

Title: Re: FA Cup live games Post by: aaron1867 on January 04, 2014, 02:04:07 PM Ha!
I have no idea where such places like Crawley are and even though that it is a second round tie, why was it shown as a second round tie in the first place? Also, Sheffield is not north? Where then? Central? :D Title: Re: FA Cup live games Post by: tikay on January 04, 2014, 02:05:01 PM Ha! Title: Re: FA Cup live games Post by: Matt.NFFC. on January 05, 2014, 09:22:22 PM If I was a West Ham fan that traveled up to Forest today I'd be pretty pissed to be honest.
As soon as I saw the teams I knew we'd win this. Obviously West Ham have more important games, but that was poor, I'd want my money back. The Fa Cup is not what it used to be. I'm curious to know roughly when it became unimportant to most Premiership teams? Man Utd dropping out that year? Premiership money all of a sudden became too much to afford to go down? Sky Sports? Unless you are a Premiership team that is outside the top 5 and safely above the bottom 6, then I guess it's just not important. That leaves the likes of say Everton, Saints, Hull, Newcastle etc which would probably give it a fair shot. The same can be said for teams in the Championship. Again, if you are safe ish and not pushing for promotion, then you may go for it with a strong side. I just wish it was like it used to be with big crowds for 3rd round ties with strong sides sent out, and a real buzz of trying to cause an upset. The reality is half empty stadiums across the land, second string teams, and a general apathy towards the cup. Sad to see really. Think it's good opportunity for squad rotation. Too much money riding on the league. Will only ever change if winner of fa cup got CL spot, or prize money was quadrupled. Only 67k for winning third round. Title: Re: FA Cup live games Post by: DungBeetle on January 06, 2014, 12:35:38 PM It's a shame though. If you are Aston Villa, your only chance of glory is to win the FA Cup. If you don't bother trying to win that, then you are effectively saying you are happy to come 10th to 17th each and every year and just bank the money.
At some point would the fans get bored of that? Title: Re: FA Cup live games Post by: Royal Flush on January 06, 2014, 05:16:11 PM We only started with Greer, crofts, and Barnes from our first 11.
