Title: River decision
Post by: shipitgood on January 30, 2014, 11:45:08 AM
Villian is a friend, really good player and we don't tend to be involved in a lot of hands together.

But there is a history of bluffing between the two of us.

I have  3d 5d OTB, £35 behind. Villian in cut off has £15 behind, he 3xes the cut off, to 30p. I call.

I should probably have 3 bet here. I call every1 else folds.

Flop

 Qd Kd Ahrt

Villian bets 0.80 I call.

Turn is  8d

It goes check check, I'm slow playing this just because of who i'm against cause he'll normally just fold 2 a bet here.

On the river

 5s

Villian checks, I over bet the pot, pots £2.55 I bet £3.30, and he shoves for £14 lol

I call, can't ever fold here right? As played?

I don't get it Dan no volume in the vid!

Opponent had 7d 9d!

How strange a hand is this?

When I overbet the pot, i'm bluffing here so often so it makes sense to rep the flush and for him to raise/ shove!

I snapety snap called to take the pot, and he had a 9 high flush! Unbeleviiiabbbble.

How sneaky was that checking the turn and river haha Can't believe the money didn't go in on the turn here.

Cruel game:(

Not really sure what to make of this hand! If he a really good player I wouldn't expect you can profitably flat 35s here.

fold pre vs good player

Fold pre but by far the biggest mistake is not betting the turn IMO. Somebody being a good player doesn't mean they can read your mind. He's not going to fold top set for example...

Yeah fold/3bet pre and just bet the turn. Seems insane to not bet the turn if you both think there's some bluffy history dynamic. This makes checking for deception really bad... i mean clearly you're going to get called down light a lot and he might even just take off with air sometimes. Even vs a random with no history at 10NL not betting the turn here is a big mistake. Probably shouldn't ever be checking back a flush here.

I guess you've overbet the river because you've missed value earlier in the hand, him jamming over an overbet obv looks super-nutted, but if you have this dynamic I guess you cant fold.... i wouldn't be loving life though

Cliffs:
3bet/fold pre. Call on flop is good. Bet turn. River is meh, vs a random i'd quite possibly fold
