Title: The "I was aiming for second" RSQ - Pokerpops has a crack at it. Post by: david3103 on February 10, 2014, 12:15:28 PM Nobody was more surprised than I when I came out as the winner of Sharplea's quiz and whilst I was indeed aiming for second I've tried to find a set of questions with something for most people and will do my best to minimise the farce next week.
Rules The score for each question is the number of people who give that answer. The most popular answer is the sheep. Incorrect answers receive the sheep score plus 5 points. Lowest score wins. Using Google, wiki, or other research is not allowed. You may choose to pass one question and will receive 0 points for that question. I am a tolerant quiz master and will not penalise poor spelling or other similar errors, although if my mood is bad at reveal time I reserve the right to be an awkward sod. You must PM your answers to me by no later than 1800 on Monday 18th February. The heading of your PM must be The "I was aiming for second" RSQ, a penalty of 5 points will apply for failing to so title your submission. Reveal will be somewhere around 2000 on Monday 18 February. My house will be full of grandchildren by then so you'll just have to suck it up if it runs late. 1. Name a club that has won the European Cup or EUFA Champions League more than once (or a combination of both) 2. Name a member of the gull family ( as listed by the RSPB ) 3.Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute barrier for the mile on 6 May 1954. Name a male athlete who has held the World Mile Record, as ratified by the IAAF and their predecessor, since then. 4. Name a sport that will be part of the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Individual events such as 100 metres men will be marked as a fail, I'm looking for sports, as listed on the Official Games website. 5.Name a poker player in the top 20 GB & Ireland cashes list according to the Hendon Mob database as at Sunday 9 February 2014. 6.Name an English City which is North of Nottingham 7. Name an individual winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. Organisations and multiple laureates are excluded. 8. Name a bridge in England which you have to pay a toll to cross. 9. Since Disney acquired Pixar there have been 17 films released under the Disney Pixar label. Name one. 10. Name an artist who has appeared on ten or more UK Number 1 singles. 11. Sheep question, pick a colour of the rainbow. The score for this question will be multiplied by -1 and you are therefore attempting to find the most popular answer here. My sources for answers will be exclusively applied, they may include Wikipedia but only where I have satisfied myself that the information is good enough to use for this purpose. Post by: Ant040689 on February 10, 2014, 08:14:57 PM Gonna be honest and say i was hoping no one would say anything on the above, as now you have opened a can of worms for potential answers for others that wouldn't have gone down that route. I don't mind too much though. I have looked up one answer i already handed in now and it is pathetic and a joke one is thrown in there too as i had no idea.
Answer to the last question though I am confident I have the correct answer. In it for the communal experience, not to win, yeh. Title: Re: The "I was aiming for second" RSQ - Pokerpops has a crack at it. Post by: HutchGF on February 10, 2014, 08:17:19 PM In. Struggling with only one pass as there were two I wanted to. Knew an obvious two for one of them but nothing juicier so I've had a stab at a more obscure one for the other one.
Thanks for taking the time to put this together. Good range of questions! Title: Re: The "I was aiming for second" RSQ - Pokerpops has a crack at it. Think the question is pretty clear anyway. Title: Re: The "I was aiming for second" RSQ - Pokerpops has a crack at it. Post by: MintTrav on February 10, 2014, 09:00:34 PM I agree with the sentiment coming through that, like last week's, it is a bit too much like a knowledge quiz. I need more than one pass for this too, so I'll shoot some guesses in. But these quizzes are supposed to be about choosing an obscure option from all the obvious answers, rather than trying to find one correct answer you can use.
Can you define multiple laureates? Do you mean that if the prize was awarded jointly to two people, neither of those individuals can be our answer?
