Title: Oh appy day...
Post by: RED-DOG on March 01, 2014, 09:56:04 AM
So after developing an unfathomable problem, my phone has been sent back for repair, and Voda have lent me a courtesy phone in the meanwhile.

Now on this courtesy phone there are a couple of apps that are the old original versions of modern apps. (One is a voice recorder that creates mp3 files and allows me to set the bit rate, and the other is an old skool copy of google navigation).

My question is, how do I save ye olde versione appes so that I can transfer them to my phone when it comes back from the menders?

Can you not plug the phone in to your computer, then navigate to the folder where the apps are stored, copy it to your hard drive then when your phone comes back, copy them back onto the phone?

I've never tried but this is what I'd try first.

I take it they're no longer available on the app store?

Yes. They are available at the app store, but they are updated versions, which are worse that the old originals imo.

I've looked through the phone folders, and I cab see stored files like pictures music etc, but I can't see any stored apps

You might need to root the loan handset which Voda may not appreciate.

Don't fancy going down that root.

You could do a search on the phone for apk files, they're the apps.

Have you looked on http://www.freewarelovers.com/android/apps for them?  They have old versions on there.

You could always ask the developer for them, you never know.

I'll try searching for the files again Graham.

I'm sure Ive heard of people moving apps to their SD card.
