Title: Aces Heads Up, terrible run out! Post by: shipitgood on March 21, 2014, 01:59:13 PM HU Hand
I have £74, villian has £47. In SB I have Ac Aspades , i raise to 40p, he 3 bets 2 £1, i make it £4, i made it quite big cause he wasn't folding pre, he calls pot is £8.80 Flop; Js Jd Qc , check, check, Turn 8s , villian bets 3/4 pot £6.60 i call. River; Qh , villian bets pot £22, i fold. I check the flop to let villian barrell turn and river, which is what he's been doing. Thoughts on this? Calling turn, and most likely raising a safe river card (that was the plan), horrible river card, when he bets pot i fold. Title: Re: Aces Heads Up, terrible run out! Don't see how you can raise to 40p and have an £8.80 pot pre flop. 10p/20p? Betting the flop seems obvious? Title: Re: Aces Heads Up, terrible run out! If villain doesn't like to fold, seems like a clear bet otf. If villain is actually going to barrel off, then I guess this plan is fine, but I much prefer just betting and getting value from AQ,KQ,9T,QT,KT,pairs etc. Certainly not a fan of raising a safe river card, you really think you're going to get called by worse raising river on JJQ brick brick in a 4-bet pot? Seems highly optimistic. Title: Re: Aces Heads Up, terrible run out! Post by: AlexMartin on March 21, 2014, 05:23:38 PM nh, id always check flop here.

Edit: While I think raising river vs most sizings would be bad here, I think its good that you're thinking about raising for thin value on rivers vs fish. Way better for your overall development to at least be thinking about these things rather than than just snap flatting and not thinking about it. Title: Re: Aces Heads Up, terrible run out! Whilst I agree with that I think it shows a lack of understanding of board texture and relative ranges. Title: Re: Aces Heads Up, terrible run out!
