Title: forum changes Post by: Ironside on January 26, 2006, 12:16:40 AM it is now no longer possible for members to delete a whole thread that they started thus deleting other members posts, if you wish a thread removed please contact a mod who will consider the pros and cons of deleting the thread
it was also possible for members to lock threads they started this has also been deactivated Title: Re: forum changes Post by: SKIPPYSKIP on January 26, 2006, 12:18:50 AM Nice 1
Title: Re: forum changes Post by: mikkyT on January 26, 2006, 12:23:44 AM Sounds like a good change.
Also, whilst you are on the subject of modifications, I think it would be wise to create an extra (moderator only) forum that deleted posts go into. This is a successful policy I have always used in the forums I have admined/moderated. They become very useful as evidence against, shall we say... uncooperative members. That way you are not deleting potentially incriminating evidence but preserving it in an area nobody can see. That way, whole threads or just random posts can be moved there. Users are still free to properly delete their comments (outside of this forum) and mods can still edit potentially offensive posts. But to delete things can cause (and has in my experience) problems.
