Title: Noisy dealer.
Post by: RED-DOG on April 17, 2014, 05:54:08 PM
So I switched from XP to Vista, and now when the cards are dealt on PokerStars, it sounds like someone is firing a machine gun whereas before it was a nice gentle swishing sound.

I've looked at sound settings and I seem to be able to change the sounds for everything except the initial deal.

Can anyone help?

Was so hoping this was the sort of thread where I could post about the dealer who deals community cards and says such gems as:

"Ooh! Who's got the ace, then?"
"You can't all have a six!"
"If he's betting, even I'm folding!"

And my favourite:

"Possible run, possible flush"

I hate it when dealers comment on the game in any way, but I hate it even more when virtual dealers sound like someone with a football rattle. Surely this is fixable....

On an open table click options

When box opens click options again

Go down to sound setting and click

You can now adjust the noise level for all the actions, choose card dealt (or whatever you want to change) and move the slider to the left to the level you want.

The 'Card Dealt' setting only works for flop, turn & river, not the initial deal. I don't want to mute the dealer sound, just change it or lower it because at the moment, it's out of proportion to everything else.

There used to be one young lady who dealt at DTD who used to have a sneaky look at the cards that were dealt to an absent player befor putting them in the muck which used to really annoy me, perhaps a little more than it should have done.

She also used to provide a running commentary and get a little too involved in the table banter for my liking, but in her defence she was from Hull.

Only old 3 card brag players say "Possible run".

So can someone else who plays on Stars tell me if the sound of the cards being dealt sounds like a cross between calico tearing and a gorilla farting?

Options > Sounds > Enable Beta Sounds > Use slider

That might be what you're already referring to though.

Could just turn all the sounds off? They're all really quite irritating in their own right

Thanks, but beta sounds has no dealer sound at all.

I don't like having sound altogether because then I have to watch the screen all the time. With sound on I can tell what's happening without looking.

You could try going into program files/pokerstars /snd and try to find the file which is the sound and replace it with something else (or an empty file)

Dunno if it is there tho

No need to do that,in sound options they let you enter a new wav sound for a lot of the actions. It just means finding a wav file you like.

Edit: but of course it does not include the deal sound  ;frustrated;

She's back!   ;cheerleader;

My old swishy dealer is back. She must have been on a break.
