Title: PC advice Post by: SuuPRlim on May 02, 2014, 06:44:53 PM Hey Blonde,
Need to buy a new PC for poker, going for a desktop - any advice on what to get, i know close to nothing about computers. Used 100% for poker and my business stuff (which is very low pressure) TY Title: Re: PC advice Post by: KarmaDope on May 02, 2014, 07:21:49 PM SSD is the most important thing (assuming you have a HUD).
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along shortly but the SSD is a must. Title: Re: PC advice Post by: bobAlike on May 02, 2014, 07:26:25 PM Any budget? SSD def the way to go.
Title: Re: PC advice Post by: Longines on May 02, 2014, 07:29:21 PM As it's for business and downtime will cost you I'd go for a Dell with next day onsite support. Change the normal hard drive for one or two SSDs will make HEM fly.

Title: Re: PC advice Post by: pleno1 on May 02, 2014, 10:20:01 PM get a mac.
Title: Re: PC advice Post by: WotRTheChances on May 02, 2014, 11:17:11 PM If you shop around you should be able to get a good PC with Intel i7 processor, 16GB+ memory, 120GB+ SSD and 1TB HDD for ~1k. Completely depends on budget and how hard you look as to what you'll find. I managed to find a similar powered laptop for that price, so i'd imagine you'd find a PC for a bit less.

If the only uses will be poker and business it makes more sense to get a larger SSD and not to bother with an HDD - being a desktop means that expansion in the future, either with an external or an internal, is convenient. I would go with a 240gb or 480gb M500 (I just bought two recently after doing a couple of hours research into crucial M500 vs samsung 840 evo) Title: Re: PC advice Post by: Flash92 on May 07, 2014, 10:03:47 PM If you have a tech savvy friend, your best bet would be to have a PC custom made. It will often work out cheaper and you can have it built to your needs.
That's what I did, and I am overwhelmed with the results and the price.
