Hi folks,

I need to put together a CD of a few tracks, and for a couple of them I'd like to mix up a few songs together.  I don't even really know where to start.  If anyone could help, or recommend some free idiot-friendly software, that'd be just super :)

I'm not sure about mixing songs together, you may need some dj program for that.   There's a few about but you can record CD's with no gaps between the songs if that's good enough?

For making a CD, there's plenty of easy ways.  I tend to do mine in iTunes (just because I use it from time to time), you can make a play list by dragging the songs into it then simply right click and create a CD.  I'm sure it's pretty simple in Windows Media player too which you should have installed on your computer already.

Is copying a playlist to a media device (iPod, your phone, iPad, computer etc) and putting it through speakers not an option?

I think Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) covers what you want plus a bit.

I haven't done that much on it though, so I don't 'really' know how easy it is to use.

Easier said than done depending on what you mean by mixing songs together.

You need professional DJ software to strip lyrics out of music for example I believe. Audacity can help but doesn't go very deep.

thanks folks - I'm not too bothered about seamless mixing, but what I really want to do is get several groups of songs together on an audio CD, but have the continuous groups of songs listed as single tracks. Will take a look at Audacity - cheers Jon.
