I am pleased to announce the Blonde Football World Cup 2014 Predictions Competition.                             
                        
                             
The rules are as follows:                             
                             
1. Entry is open to everyone.                             
There will be three pools for this event. A free pool, one costing £10 and one costing £15. It will not be possible to enter the £15 pool without entering the £10 pool, i.e. you must pay either £10 or £25. The same selections will be entered in all pools. The object of this is to try to encourage more people to take part.                             
I will PM my bank details to everyone who expresses even a remote interest in entering the monetary pools. Payment must be received by me before 8pm on Thursday 12th June. If you are interested, please indicate below or PM me.                             
                             
2. Each entrant will pick selections in each of the categories below:

Top Scorer                                10 points for first, 5 points for 2nd, 3 points for 3rd  (dead-heat rules apply)                         
Number of red cards                10 points for exact, 5 points for +/- 1                         
Number of yellow cards            10 points for exact, 5 points for +/- 4                         
Total goals                                10 points for exact, 5 points for +/- 3                         
Team to score most goals        10 points for first, 5 points for 2nd, 3 points for 3rd  (dead-heat rules apply)                    
Team to score least goals        10 points for first, 5 points for 2nd, 3 points for 3rd  (dead-heat rules apply)                    
Team to concede least goals    10 points for first, 5 points for 2nd, 3 points for 3rd  (dead-heat rules apply)                    
Team with worst group record               10 points for first, 5 points for 2nd, 3 points for 3rd  (dead-heat rules apply)           (The worst team will be decided by least group points then worst goal difference, then least goals scored. If still tied, they will be deemed equal).         
                             
Penalty shoot-outs will not count for goals totals for any of the above markets.                             
To clarify the dead-heat rules, the number of available points is divided by the number of teams that are tied, e.g. if two teams tie for top place and there are 10 for first and 5 points for second, both teams will be awarded 7.5 points.         
         
                             
Group winner                            10 points for each correct group winner, 5 points if they come second                     
Group runner-up                         10 points for each correct group runner-up, 5 points if they win the group                         
                             
Individual games (from 2nd round onwards)                       3 points for each correct prediction (win/lose/draw)                         
After the completion of the group stages I will list the fixtures for the second round draw, you will then have approximately 42 hours to send me your predictions for those games (i.e. I will need to receive all predictions by 4:30pm on 28th June).                             
I will repeat the same process for the quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final/3rd & 4th play-off.                             
                             
As you can see, I'm going to make you work hard!                             
                             
                             
3. The organiser reserves the right to make changes to the list above if the need arises.                             
                             
4. I will be using http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/ for the purpose of deciding the result of each market.                             
                             
5. Initial entries must be sent to me via PM or posted on this thread by 8pm on Thursday 12th June. I will then make everyone's selections available via the spreadsheet to which I have provided a link at the top of this post. I will post the deadlines for the entries for each new round at the completion of the previous round. Where people are unable to make selections for matches in later rounds due to availability, they will get a default selection of "Home".                     
                             
6. The winner will be the person who scores most points over the course of the tournament. Where two (or more) people achieve the same score, I will apply dead heat rules to split the prize money evenly. There will be no tie-break conditions.                             
                             
7. My decision is final in all matters (until proven otherwise).                             
                             
Payouts will be as follows:

1st 75%                             
2nd 25%                             
                             
21-30 entrants                             
1st  60%                             
2nd 30%

If the number of entrants is sufficient there will also be a booby prize for last place. Final prize allocations will be posted at 9pm on 12th June.                              
         
The prize for winning the free entry competition will be bragging rights and the title of "Blonde Football World Cup 2014 Competition Champion".
