Title: Satelite Strategy
Post by: shipitgood on May 14, 2014, 04:48:06 PM
Hey!

For all the satelite players:

Just looking for some feedback on the best strategy for playing a Sat.

I played one last week, was the 4th person out, i had the 3rd nuts, a fh. Villian had quads, i know this is a bit of a cooler, but maybe i could still have folded given action on the river.

Was thinking about playing tight early doors, opening up later on when the blinds are bigger, play close attention to players and their tendencies to try and see me through, look to pick spots.

Any help greatly appreciated!

id go the other way loose early on and tight later when your getting to the seat bubble.

Ideally (depening on the number of seats) you wanan get yourself into a situation where you cannot lose. Once you have a seat locked you should effectively sit out

In general play tighter than usual at all stage, by nature they have the flattest payout structure. It really does depend on the amount of seats on offer compared to runners. If there is 1 seat and 100+ runners you can play loose as you are playing for the win at all times. Alternatively with 1 seat for every 4 or 5 runners playing joke tight is correct especially deep with a stack.

Cheers both.

Will just play snug/ go for max value look for spots later on.

Basically tight all the way, we're looking to survive not chip up.  Might be tempted to take some flops early if deep enough but the rest of the time just gonna be mashin dat foldings button.

(Ideas posted above are how I would play in an ideal world, actual proceedings may differ).
