Title: Quick query about 10 minute corner bets
Post by: cambridgealex on June 17, 2014, 12:35:38 PM
I bet last night on corners between 50:00 and 59:59 in the Germany game. There was a corner given at 59:55 (or one or two seconds maximum either side) and it hasn't been paid out.

Obviously the corner was taken around 60:xx so is that how they rule it, not when it was given?

I fistpumped it so hard now I'm fuming :D

I would imagine it is when the ball is kicked (should  tell you on the site)

Using an example a pen is given in the 15th minute, by the time the players have argued, cried and acted like babies the kick is taken and scored in the 20th minute - goal counts as 20th minute

I'd be pretty sure all other set pieces would be the same

The counterargument to put to them is what happens if referee awards a corner deep into injury time and there is no time to take it.  Does the corner count towards the total?  I imagine it does but not sure?

But reading the penalty argument, that is pretty compelling.

I've never seen this, but would guess it wouldn't count towards the total.

I am pretty sure when the ref awards the corner then that is the time it should be counted , not when the player actually takes
the corner. If you were betting on a penalty then the time would have to be when the ref awards the penalty , not when it is being taken , which can be quite a while after. That is my understanding unless the actual wording in their rules are "when a corner kick is taken" as opposed to just "will there be a corner ". Quite ambiguous unless clearly stated in t and c's.

Be interested in the outcome of this if you challenge it Alex.

All those corner bets are settled when the kick is taken Alex.

There have been some occasions when a corner has been awarded but the ref has then blown for full time before the kick is taken, on those occasions the corner has to be taken to be counted as a corner as it can't be counted as a corner if they don't take the corner, if you see what I mean.
