Title: Just Spew?
Post by: shipitgood on July 07, 2014, 12:11:06 AM
It's a live casino game there's about 16 left on 2 tables,

Blinds are 500/1k, we have 50/60kish at the start of the hand.

Guy in late position makes it 2k, guy behind him calls, sb folds.

We have  Ahrt  3h, I called. 3 betting this? Pot Approx 6k

flop Kx 4x 5x (rainbow 1 heart)

Original raiser bets 3kish, other player folds

We raise to 8kish, he thinks a bit and calls.

Can't remember the turn card, but it was a heart, I bet 13kish it was like half pot and set it up to jam any river.

And I was jamming the river if he called whatever it was, it was set up that I just had under a pot size bet left.

Guy tanked for ages before folding the turn.

Was this just spewy? Guy said he folded K 10

Reads, I've won a whole heep of pots uncontested. Hardly any have got 2 show down at the table, most of these have been played from late position.

It's the first time I've really raised a post flop bet at this table. The dynamic at the table - there wasn't much raising going on to post flop bets like ever.

Think he can fold the flop here a whole lot, he's calling with Kx, most pockets pairs.

He folds most pocket pairs on the turn. And most K x hands on the river, if he doesn't improve.

You certainly haven't chosen a bad hand/texture to bluffraise on and your thought process on the whole seems pretty sound. BUT i would in general try to avoid planning to get people to fold top pair in live tournaments. And that's not even a joke, in theory he could/should fold Kx to a river jam but in reality they just won't and then your play does end up being a big pile of spew, so your play can be fine here just make sure you pick your opponents.

What hands do we think he calls the flop with, and then folds on a blank turn?
