thanks tikay. seriously, it is really appreciated that we can promote our work on this site/forum. i have been banned from three forums for advertising our events as the owners say we have 'a conflict of commercial interests and activities'. the important thing to remember about P4C and Game for Life is that they are the poker community's and Malcolm, Steve, Andy, Tony and myself are just fortunate enough to be it's servants at this moment in time.

It's not widely known that Dave El Blondie Colclough has supported P4C for years, & he wont thank nme for revealing that if he reads this. But he can like it or lump it.

OK, I have read bits about P4C and Game4Life but....what is it. Sorry if this sounds like it is trying to induce spam, it genuinely isn't, I would just like to know more about it. Who runs it, what is it, which charities benefit etc etc.

Game for Life is a registered charity (reg no: 1108681). It was founded and funded by the poker community through the efforts of Poker4Charity. Poker4Charity is now a campaign of Game for Life Enterprises Ltd which is a trading that is 100% owned by Game for Life (The Charity).

As well as setting up it's own projects working with children Game for Life also awards grants .

I guess I and the other trustees run the Game for life side of things whilst my wife, Angie runs Poker4Charity although we have loads of volunteers and supporters both in the poker world and outside it.

Payment (and I may have missed all details on thiss) is by Paypal. As most people will be poker fans, and Paypal have banned gaming transactions, perhaps it would be a good idea if you took NETeller?

Simon. They just began construction of a school in the tsumani ravaged part of Sri Lanka,. But they dont just BUILD the school - they run it, buy the books, pay the teachers - for LIFE. I think Davey told me that 600 pays a teacher for x months - amazing!

And hospices in the UK for terminally ill kids. Get your head round THAT.

We do accept payment by neteller as well. - I am happy to PM you the details. The reason for paypal being our preffered choice of transfer is that the transaction charges are less. Ideally cash and cheques are best as they do not incur charges.

Davey/Malc - how many months can you pay a teacher in Sri Lanka for with 600? You did tell me, I forgot.

The total cost of keeping the schools open including all maintainance, teacher salaries and school uniforms for the kids is 60 a month. 600 will pay a teacher for a year.

my apologises working in US$ - $600 is just over a years salary so with current exchange rates we would be talking about 2 years.

like the poker world the US$ is king in the charity world.

So 60 a month RUNS a school.

300 pays a teacher for a YEAR.

300 for a years education??? Jeez, that is value. OK, I am just off to the site to take a platinum membership (only 150 !!). Is anyone prepared to match me? That would be a years worth of education for these guys, all for the price of a game of poker. Don't go all quiet on me now.

Yeah a school costs 720 a year to run. of which aprox 500 is for wages - the senior teacher getting around 300.

To clarify the total cost including staff is 720 / year.

The crazy thing is that we often can't comprehend the huge amounts of money that governments quote in terms of aid and GDPs etc. - just how much is a $billion? the problem I now have is how can so little do so much.

when having blonde tourneys as of this evening there is 20 but no rake....might it be an idea to have the tournament as 20 + 2 where the 2 goes to the charity.
Only saying this as i presume there will be more tourneys as the popularity of this one seems to be .

or in addition or alternatively a slight shaving of the price money across the board to go to charity..as this is a community board by decent people.
it may not seem much but it would be something especially as it would get lost in the mix and not be noticed in a game

P4C has its own charity events
as a disabled person i know how many chairties are out there all asking for money

so not everyone can donate all the time

therefore i dont think that we should shove P4C down everyones throats

therefore i dont think blonde events should have a manditory % off the top for P4C

but people are welcome to donate if they please

I think this was discussed at the outset but, I think the train of thought is that "IF" people want to donate, they will. I agree with this policy, not to force people to donate. People are here to play and discuss poker. If they choose to do extra, great stuff, if not, no problem.
