OK, so it's not really a music quiz, it's just me trying to ask a couple of questions in a light hearted way, so that people won't think I'm a miserable old bastard.

Last night, with only a few runners left in the comp and three nice little cash games going, we had a couple of hours of pumping dance tunes played at a volume that made it difficult to hear each other or the dealer unless we raised our voices.

Now I'm always the one who moans about the music, so I decided to ignore it and just get on with the game, but I caved in after an hour or so and asked if it could be turned down a bit please. "Of course" was the reply, "No Problem".

"Thank F%$K for that" said several people on my table.

Ten minutes later, someone turned it up again.

So, what I would like to know is, who decides what type of music will be played at the club, at what time, and at what volume?

Are there any guidelines issued? It seems strange that a place like DTD, who pay so much attention to detail, would just leave something like this to the whim of whoever has access to the computer.

I have often thought it's just what music channel is on in the staff room behind the scenes as there always seems to be a theme each day I am there (80s/rock/ dance) depending on the day and it rarely changes over the course of the day

Same at G in Leicester. I'd prefer it if the music was switched off!

I agree. Just turn it off or at least have it on a more quiet ambient setting

I'm generally opposed to capital punishment, but on this one I'm siding with the hang'em brigade.

I for one love the sound of many many chips being riffled across the tables of the card room. So just play a tape of that IMO.

Maybe you can get one of those keyboards Ross had in Friends with various card room noises on you could set to a funk beat?
