Title: Too thin river value? Post by: Flash92 on August 01, 2014, 08:56:02 PM Live £50 at Gala Bristol. 50/100 - 13K to start the hand
Weak player opens MP to 300 I flat bu w/QTo, SB calls. Flop is JKsXr. Checks round, I contemplate a bet, but decide to check back. Turn is As checks to me, I bet 1000, SB calls. Js SB leads for 1200 I raise to 4k. Thoughts on this raise? Thanks Ash. Title: Re: Too thin river value? Post by: muckthenuts on August 01, 2014, 11:46:19 PM Not too sure about the preflop call.
River i kind of want to make it 3k? I'm not too worried about how i'm never bluffing with this sizing, just want to make sure i get called by a wider range but lose less vs flushes. I think raising in general is ok on this river in a live £50 f/o though, people flick it in with all kinds of silliness. Title: Re: Too thin river value? Post by: Rexas on August 02, 2014, 12:09:46 PM Surely the call pre can't be bad, Q10 plays fine, we're reasonably deep and in position. I probs fold pre ante but it can't be a losing call in a live 50er.
Complete my with muckthenuts on river sizing though, I'm defo raising small, just makes it easier for him to call with worse. Title: Re: Too thin river value? Post by: Flash92 on August 02, 2014, 05:31:14 PM Probably worth noting villain is decent and is not likely to call too light or 3b bluff ever.
I hated my raise after making it :/ Title: Re: Too thin river value? Post by: Rexas on August 03, 2014, 01:31:31 AM I mean, I think there's a reasonable case for 3bing pre, but this is kinda player dependent etc, I don't think there's much wrong with calling. I pretty much always bet flop when checked to, but as played by the time we get to a river this donk bet is very small and looks like a blocker bet to me, which is unlikely to be a full house or a big flush. Possibly a small flush or, I think more likely, a J. Definitely think there's value to be had from a small raise, it is kinda thin but as played by the villain I think we can get called by a worse hand a decent amount of the time. If he 3b's this is just a fold tho :p
Title: Re: Too thin river value? Post by: Flash92 on August 03, 2014, 01:43:32 PM He jammed on me, I folded.
Title: Re: Too thin river value? Post by: TL900 on August 03, 2014, 05:34:05 PM fold or 3b pre for me, multiway QTo plays v poorly.
river seems bad, we block the only naked Jx he can have (QJ JT dat gutshot equity) and he prob has every flush and some small boats in his range, closer to a fold than a raise imo. Title: Re: Too thin river value? Post by: lolwutwasthat on August 05, 2014, 04:19:12 PM I think a river raise is fine vs a weak player
Title: Re: Too thin river value? Post by: SuuPRlim on August 09, 2014, 07:05:22 AM I think a river raise is fine vs a weak player Agree, in a live £50 comp vs weak opponent then raising is fine IMO. Probably worth noting villain is decent Defo call river now. Folding not an option really given the price and the fact we can maybe beat some value bets but raising is certainly not good now. |
