Not exactly PHA! but was just looking for some advice on playing a Live Tournie, with multiple days.

I mostly play online and have only played live (mtts) 3 times in the last year, 2 of these been low buy in casino games.

What's the best strategy to go into a multi-day tournie, Just trying to get to day 2, 3 etc? Well trying to build a stack.

Also, I know it sounds silly!, but, do you ever get tired just sitting for ages, best way to deal with this?

It will be the biggest buy in tournie I've ever played in. I'm quite decent at MTT's, but there's going to be so many players that have a lot more experience of MTT's (live/ online) compared to myself, especially at bigger buy ins.

Would love to hear any views on best way to deal with it and these players.

Just some general advice if this is your first multiple day tournament...

If there is more than one Day 1s, don't enter on the last one. If you enter Day 1a rather than Day 1b then you get a day to rest and recover before Day 2. If you are not used to the long grind of multiple day tourneys this will mean that if you are lucky enough to get to days 3 and 4 then you are not totally exhausted.

Using the same principle, don't enter the tournament in the first few levels - late register instead. Yes I know you probably want to play when deep stacked, this is where your biggest edge is yadda yadda. But the most important part of Day 1 is the last 90 minutes or so. This is when players are getting tired and making mistakes. For example, jamming their chips in light hoping to double up so they don't have to return for Day 2 with 15bbs; or the opposite, playing super tight cos they have enough chips for day 2. Or just generally making silly errors because they are tired, frustrated or tilted. Thus, these last few levels are the most profitable time for you... provided you are fully on your game and not tired and making mistakes like the others! So it is essential to be super focused and super wide awake during these last couple of levels. If you late register the tournament you are more likely to be playing your best and benefiting from others' mistakes in the last couple of hours of the night.
