Title: Trigg-ering the memories.
Post by: tikay on October 31, 2014, 10:50:32 AM
Asked on "Moorman MasterClass" (GREAT TV by the way) Ch 861 last night to identify one player who has impressed him more than anyone recently, Chris Moorman named.......Rick Trigg. If you want to know why, you'll have to watch the Show.

Anyway, as I so often do these days when a familiar name is mentioned, I had a quick google image of Trigg.

Quite amazing, some of the Trigg photos down the years.

We've alll seen the silver shorts, & the nude bathroom pose, so I'll spare you those, but a few of these made me realise what a fashion icon Trigg has been down the years.

For starters, a real memory-jerker, with Trigg looking a bit like rfqqhhgrqqdd with that unruly curly mop, sat next to the late Dave Smith.

Crucial, or what?

Has Trigg ever been seen in the same room as James Wade?

He has a lounge jacket for every occasion. This one.

As it happens, I see him more as a Sam Grafton lookalike.

hahaah bastards. Lovely for my good mate moorman putting in a word for me, if im 7/10 player now id be a 4 or 5 without moors help, also proud to be one of his best men at his wedding next year. This year has been a year of two struggles, one with huge make up 260k in jan which i cleared a few weeks ago, and another with my weight fluctuating dramatically. Crazy to see how big i got in one of those pictures a few years ago.

tony is there anywhere i can watch last nights show please?

It's awesome to see someone who's put in enormous volume and effort and clearly ran horrific over a long period of time to get some justice and get out of it.

Salute

The context of what he said about you was (something like, but he never quoted any numbers) "Trigg ran shocking bad in 2013, but he stuck at it, worked hard, & dug himself out of the hole". I thought it was a lovely thing to say. The question was along the lines of "who do you most respect amongst your competitors?".

He came across incredibly well on the Show, too.

You can catch repeats on Saturday, Sunday & Monday, see this snappy link here.....

https://www.skypoker.com/secure/poker/sky_lobby?action=show_static&page=poker_community_forums&plckForumPage=ForumDiscussion&plckDiscussionId=Cat%3a57795ac2-1793-4377-b4cf-e124b0f555f4Forum%3a5481b28d-7e09-497b-b12d-124a7ea69e3fDiscussion%3a5f3627e0-d13e-42ec-afb7-dd0ae9a15518&plckShowLatestPost=1

Have to add, I had never realised how your weight fluctuated until I saw some of those photos, we sort of don't notice these things sometimes, except in severe cases, such as Red-Dog.

i guess chris can relate to getting out of a hole after his staking operation went a bit awry and he battled out of a huge hole which we all knew he would i cant speak for moor but for me getting out of this hole is the proudest ive felt in poker, so much more satisfying than any single tournament win.

$260k of make up???

Jesus, I'd not sleep with that.  Did it affect you much?

Title: Re: Trigg-ering the memories.
Post by: SuuPRlim on October 31, 2014, 03:00:40 PM
it was a really, really sick accomplishment, only a few people have ever been $100k+ and gotten out of it, pretty much never heard of anyone being in a 1/4mil and getting it back, especially without any significant wins in there - biggest score has been about 50 right trigg?

not as much as i thought it would, looking back now. If at any point i didnt believe i would clear then i would have been doomed.
Thankfully i had a good backer who i could loan from and good friends i borrowed from while in the hole.

He peaked at $220k and got substantially out before going on his own.
source: was his backer

Trigg consistently mentioned as helluva worker in all respects. Keep it up!

Don't know Trigg (although did sit his 25/25 table) but his pocketfives feed is beyond inspirational. Such consistency.

To hear you came out of that hole is even better. Nice one!

Rupert, You were Lipo's backer?

That's pretty sick. His whole PGC is epic. Inspirational stuff.

Yep. Obviously he got pretty deep so I sold half his makeup at a discount to a friend and we backed him together until he left us. His PGC was very cool, I never told him I was reading it but I guess he assumed I was! Quite early on he won a tournament in Australia while we were living together and I was happier that day than a lot of wins I've had for myself. Good feeling to see friends doing well and I'm not surprised one bit Moor picked out Trigg to mention.

Consumer warning: Staking can lose you money as well as win.................

Yeah, risky business indeed.

Glad it seemed to work out for all, you chose your "horse" well it seems as a lot might have crumbled.

There's one post in that PGC where he describes a 200 page binder he's made for himself with various opening ranges amongst just about everything else. The guy clearly worked pretty hard!

Yep Marty is a machine. He works on some things a lot haven't paid much thought to and is one of three go to guys I ask about strats. I've had several horses lose me plenty of money and a few that have won me some.

wow really humbled to hear great players i respect compliment me. feels really good, thanks guys. kinda got deep in the stars tlb this year without trying, have fluked about 3 or 4 hot 16 wins, hot 55 win hot 75 win and a few other large field luckfests. Since i have a shot to get a decent possy in the the table ive really changed my schedule around and cut out a lot of the marginal +ev/breakeven/-ev stuff and added a boatload of small buyin huge field turbos which the leader board rewards a lot more than say a 265ko win. still got 2 months of grind but have to say its really demoralising busting a lot of tournaments within a short space of time throughout the day and the main reason i have avoided most turbos throughout the year. the intangible bad morale that busting a load of turbos can cause is probably underestimated by the whole community. So basically cut out all the euro sites midweek and just have the stars tlb calculator at the ready constantly bashing in numbers to deem if a tourney is worthwhile playing. My dad has just come out of hospital with a pretty bad case of pneumonia so hoping to get a placing in the tlb high enough so that i can treat him to a fortnight in the bahamas for the pca. last time we were there in 2011 a hillarious thing happened. We had about $500 between us in the whole world, we just had the $2k on the room card which was part of the pokerstars package. So we arrive first night and i decide to go for a chinese with the lads, while my dad decides to go with moorman and his american mates to a bar and grilll. Fast forward i lose 10 way flip for $800 and my dad has somehow mustered up the courage (been coerced) to flip also and he loses for $900 (both 10 way flips) so we are left with buttons for the next 13 days lol

Really happy for ya getting out or the hole mate. Quick question; I know haven't been using a HUD for too long, do you think a lack of one of these during your downswing was part of the reason you were in so deep at one stage? Or do you not think it's had too much of an impact?

^ p.s. Helped my get my first online staking deal so thanks for that mate :)

Holy shit that's amazing. Gotta love that degeneracy has gotta be a little bit genetic.

I think saying that Trigg ran shite before this year is pissing on his bonfire a little. You don't lose that many buyins playing like he does now, he was obviously making many mistakes. Undoubtedly, he has turned that around and seems to play his A game so often now. Pretty amazing to gain so much respect in a 10 month bracket but Trigg deserves it. Well done mate.

Sat on his left at EPT London recently and confirmed pain in the arse to play against.
Congrats on recent run to get out of it.

When you hear about great players like Trigg going 200k down in make up, makes you realise just how hard it is to make money at poker nowadays.
