Right, so I think I butchered the crap outta this hand. Instantly hated betting the turn as soon as I did it, not sure what I'm expecting to fold, especially given the particularly big open narrowing calling ranges, and out of the SB to a utg raise it's likely to be pretty narrow anyway.

As for the river, bleurgh. Obviously, especially given the table chat, this is a trivial fold (and I did fold). I think we should bet river, although I'm not sure how often we actually get called by worse. AK exactly is basically it, so there's a decent argument for checking back I river and I did consider it in game. Then, for some reason, I decided to bet reasonably big, which I think is a bit of a disaster too.

So, what do we think about betting the turn and what do we think about the river (assuming we have decided to bet the turn)?

I would bet river as it's quite hard for us to be beat now really, but then fold to a raise lol. I think checking turn is probably best for the reasons you've stated, most hands people take a c/call line with otf would probably hold on til the river i feel on this sort of runout when they may feel they have induced.

fold pre

check behind flop

check behind turn

b/f river

imo

sb peelers range is massively AK/AQ heavy

Sigh another ninja edit thought the open was 3x.

Agree with Pinchop

not folding pre. Even if he has 6x'd we are 150bb deep and players that 3X are generally bad.

+1 to Pinchop bar folding pre

You have so little fold equity on this flop with this preflop action against pretty sticky 50NL players which wouldn't be a problem if we thought that we would be able to get folds on rivers but since you don't give any reads I'm going to assume they're unknowns at 50NL and aren't too into folding in big pots when they think they've nailed a good flop (ie top pair)

I wouldn't agree that the only non-boat ace that he can have is AK. I think he gets to the river with every Ax that he calls pre and if we've really reached the point where unknowns at 50NL aren't flicking in AJs, ATs then just quit and play PLO :D

Yh, I kinda felt that pre was the only street that I played ok :p Not sure someone who is going to 6x utg is going to be a wizard, and J10ss plays fine against basically every hand, so I figured pre was unlikely to be bad.

I agree with the flop analysis. Think SB's range here is going to be pair and big A heavy, so against that range a cbet isn't going to be doing well. Would we rather bet our gutshots, or just check it down because of how nutted we expect the SB to be? Is there also not a case for a small flop bet so we can then check back turn and see the full runout cheaply against this range? Obviously I didn't do this, but that seems like a reasonable argument to bet flop.

First time I met Pinchop was in a live tournament in Luton, and I'm pretty sure he 4b folded AK pre and got shown a 4, so nit story checks out ;)

bet bet bet/call. only hands we have which are better are aq, qq, and 99 depending on what you 3bet. X back turn is alright but I'd prefer to use better draws than this to do with it so may as well just bluff with this one and have an easy bet/f on the turn rather than with KJss or something
