Title: new pc Post by: Ironside on January 07, 2015, 11:32:41 PM below is the specs of the pc i am thinking of getting
is there anything i should adding or removing? win 8 or win 7 is same price so i can swap if i want Title: Re: new pc Post by: Longines on January 07, 2015, 11:48:52 PM That's a pretty stonking system. If it was me I might be tempted to get them to swap the SSD for a Samsung 840 EVO which is consistently top of the reviews. The Kingston is fine, the Samsung is just a bit better.

Title: Re: new pc Post by: titaniumbean on January 07, 2015, 11:52:26 PM what are you getting it for? how much is the quote?
the processor is v good, the graphics card seems kinda good value but not great esp compared to the processor, so it depends what you want the system for. ssd is a must, and the 2ndary drive implies you want alot of storage for videos of w/e. you can google 'make windows 8 like windows 7' when you get it so you can get rid of the stupid tiles features. Title: Re: new pc Post by: Ironside on January 08, 2015, 12:07:40 AM its going to be my poker pc/my games pc/my general pc
quote is £1k the price differential between 3TB and 3TB was less than a round of drinks in the pub so just went for it i do have alot of tv series etc on my drive at the moment most i have the dvd's for but find it more useful watching them on pc Title: Re: new pc Post by: Ironside on January 08, 2015, 12:10:34 AM That's a pretty stonking system. I would suggest you take a look and compare the options from these places both of which i've heard good things about and seen good deals from- http://www.novatech.co.uk/pc/gaming/ http://www.meshcomputers.com/Default.aspx?PAGE=PRODCATEGORYVIEWPAGE&USG=APPLICATION&ENT=APPLICATION&KEY=1093152 Title: Re: new pc Post by: KarmaDope on January 08, 2015, 12:16:07 AM if youre gaming and have that much as a budget you may as well go the whole hog and get the nvidia gtx 970 4gb graphics card - the one thats in there atm is not good enough really for the top games.
Title: Re: new pc Post by: Ironside on January 08, 2015, 12:23:39 AM my games are number crunchers
Football manager cycling manager total war so graphics card is what i always try to save on i have purchased elite which would benefit from graphics card i presume but not got round to playing it Title: Re: new pc Post by: titaniumbean on January 08, 2015, 12:27:17 AM my games are number crunchers Football manager cycling manager total war so graphics card is what i always try to save on i have purchased elite which would benefit from graphics card i presume but not got round to playing it ah ok yeh so most of those dont require strong graphics cards. elite definitely needs a good one imo as its a beautiful looking game for what it is (nothingness in space lol). I would happily skimp on the ram 8gb is more than enough, your PSU is very good and could run abunch more stuff off of it. if you're spending 1k on a computer you can get a good gaming rig which is strong in all aspects. check the price of the products on the links I gave you. Title: Re: new pc Post by: KarmaDope on January 08, 2015, 01:02:08 AM GTX750Ti or GTX760 would be a better choice i think...I dont know much more tbh
Title: Re: new pc Post by: Longines on January 08, 2015, 09:13:00 AM The 850 is pretty expensive still but looks good:

Your old CPU: 8194 New CPU: 18296 Old GPU: 293 New GPU: 10064 Is 512GB enough storage space for you? You had 3240GB when you bought the old PC. I did a quick comparison to a £940 PC on ebuyer.com and yours seems to be fairly priced, its specs were a little higher than the £940.
