Title: Trolling Post by: The Camel on January 23, 2015, 06:54:39 PM What is it?
Appears to be if someone disagrees with a commonly held view on an internet forum they are considered a troll. Amirite? Title: Re: Trolling Post by: Woodsey on January 23, 2015, 06:57:23 PM Gets thrown around by lots of people on here when someone disagrees with them.
Title: Re: Trolling Post by: TightEnd on January 23, 2015, 06:58:35 PM posting things you do not believe purely to get a negative reaction from another poster, ie posting to wind them up
whether some people actually believe some of the things they post is a tough judgement call to make (and the best trolls know which side of the line to pitch the post), and the lines between debate and trolling get blurred! Title: Re: Trolling Post by: EvilPie on January 23, 2015, 07:05:09 PM You've clearly just started this thread to make a point about people disagreeing with you in another thread.
Why not just come out and say what you're really thinking? Title: Re: Trolling Post by: EvilPie on January 23, 2015, 07:05:32 PM There ya go.

This. When you made a comment in the other thread that I disagreed with, I made my point with my reasons - that's a debate. When arrboy suggested that you didn't even believe what you were saying then he's suggesting you were trolling. You then said you genuinely do believe that the best tournament player is whoever has the highest ROI, so fair enough, you're entitled to your opinion. The bit about "post stuff they don't believe" isn't actually relevant. A troll can post stuff they do or don't believe, but they post with the purpose of provoking a response, trying to upset people or start an argument. Of course, if someone posts what they actually believe it can be difficult to determine if they're debating, putting their opinion forward, or trolling. Why not just come out and say what you're really thinking? No, was actually thinking about Kmac, who a lot people consider a troll but because I agree with most of what he says, I have never seen him as such. A bit edgy maybe, but not a troll. Woodsey says a lot of thing I disgree with and I think he's often trolling. But I'm probably wrong and he actually believes it. In fact the first time I heard it pronounced the other way I had to ask what he was saying. You probably went to the same sort of school as me and just extrended the word from the Billy Goat Gruff story. If you think Woodsey and kmac are trolls just come out and say it rather than hiding behind a smoke screen. Is there a term for them?

Don't get why people squeal and point at the slightest whiff of a troll. I think it's all rather harmless and entertaining. Described on Wiki as "internet discourse" lol has anyone called the police yet? Folk who brand people a troll are pure drama queens. In fact the best ever thread will be when trolls battle drama queens in some kind of Lord of the Rings epic. Trolls would be firm favourites because drama queens will readily flounce off at any given opportunity, usually threatening to "never post again".
