Title: What are you doing on Valentines day/weekend?
Post by: bobby1 on February 13, 2015, 01:35:53 PM
Has anyone got any big/or small plans for the weekend and are they romantic gestures or more a sense of duty?

I'm not one for over the top celebrations really but this year thought I would make the effort. The plan is to get us a nice take out from the classy vegetarian Indian Restaurant near us, then I might try it on just before Match of the day if we haven't eaten too much food. On Sunday I'm taking my lovely wife to the Fox's Biscuit's Stadium to watch Batley Bulldogs v Workington Town.

Will probably call in for a coffee and a doughnut on the way home too.

So that's two meals and an afternoon of entertainment over the Valentine weekend.

What are your plans guys?

I've just finished drawing my Mrs a homemade card in my lunch break on a folded bit of A4.  Had to use a company envelope which has ruined the impact a bit though.

The wife and I are going on an archery course, which also has a knife and axe throwing package thrown in.

Only a person very sure of their relationship would take their partner on a course that teaches them to throw knives and an axe.

vwp sir

Prashad in drighlington?
I'll be at wakefield trinity v hull kr on Sunday but my valentines plans have been changed by the last minute visit of sister in law from overseas, so I'm just going to sneak out and get a nice bunch of flowers for starters

Given what my other half is like in the kitchen, I doubt she would know what to do with a knife when she sees one anyway.

Am I right lads?

Have a good one mate.

It is Prashad bud, you can't whack a Special Chaat, a Tarka Dhal and then after a small rest period a dessert of Gajar Halva. Mind you at £6.25 it better live up to it's billing on the menu

Gajar Halva
£6.25
A hot carrot halva, slow cooked carrots caramelised and infused with rich cardamom, creating a sensuous texture.

Most of my mates love Prashad but have been twice and struggle to eat there. It's a lovely place but I really need some meat in my curry. Hope you and the Mrs enjoy it

Our daughter (10) likes to get involved with us so we're all cooking dinner together.  This is about as far as I like to go, can't stand Valentines to be honest but then I'm not really the romantic type.

She does now :)

Had plenty of debate about this with Sicilian in the past, he's another one that falls for all that shizzle.

A car and flowers has got to be top of the shop so far. Well played mate.

I thought there might be a few grand romantic gestures around but maybe all the romantics are sitting in a big card room in Nottingham and playing poker with their mates?

You married men think you have it bad? Leave it out.

I shall spend the day being told bad beat stories, or "so the flop came".

Valentines Day Massacre, more like.

To be honest mate there is a big chance my wife says the same to me at some stage this weekend.

I had you down as a runner for a romantic trip, maybe on a train somewhere and a lovely meal before a return journey. I mean who arranges a poker tourney for Valentines weekend eh?
