Title: Cars you have owned and cars you would like to own
Post by: mikeymike on February 14, 2015, 12:18:55 AM
Hi all

My favourite car that i owned a long time ago was a Ford Capri 3L - in those day it went like shit off a shovel - back end use to slide all the time - and if it rained god help you - use to live in germany so on the autobahn could really let her fly.

Car i would really like to own Jaguar MK1, total classic.

Best car i have driven but not owned was my mates aston martin lagonda and a zodiac zephyr

The first car I ever drove was a Capri 3.0 S JPS. It was my moms car and I was 13 years old :)

Mate of mine when I was younger had a Ford Capri 3L automatic.  Fantastic fun to be driven around it, went like shit of a shovel!

First car I ever owned was a Fiat 127. Went to gigs all over the country in it.   Few times 3 of us ended up kipping in it, all of us over 6ft.  Wasn't that comfy tbh.  Mine was a darker blue than this bad boy.

First car I had was a B-Reg, Black Vauxhall Nova SR, with twin-webers, K&N, and some other crap, too :D

Bought it just before I joined the Navy when I was 18, in 1999, and crashed it about a year later.

Then it was an H-Reg 1.4 Nova SR, which wasn't all that great, and again lasted about a year.

Needed a bigger car when I moved to Chicksands in 2002, so bought an L-Reg Vauxhall Calibra, that I spunked loads of cash doing up.

17" Alloys, bodykit, and a stereo that was worth more than the car :/

Amazing what stupid ideas we come up with to spend our money on...

Kept that for about 3 years, and then bought my brothers MR2 twin-turbo off him when I won 10k in a poker tourney on Laddies :D #shrewd

That was the most ridiculous car I've ever owned, and even 70mph felt like 150mph, because you were about 6 inches off the floor.

HKS Digital Boost Controller, full hybrid, forged pistons, all hoses uprated, HKS sequential dump vale, straight through twin-exit exhaust, and I think it was about 380bhp on a rolling road.

Crashed it when I accidentally flicked the boost up to 2bar, and it started spinning in 3rd gear when I put my accelerated...

Best car I ever had was the Audi A8, that made London Traffic bearable, when you could watch TV while you're stuck ;D

Must be getting old now, because I think if I had a choice of anything, I'd probably want an RS8 Audi...

First vehicle I owned was this very VW Camper GDF 121L, googled the number plate a while back and found its been restored and used to hire out.

I did most of the original customization to the van and it pretty much looks the same as when i had it, although probably a lot more reliable.

The vehicle I would love to own now is another VW Camper, split screen version of course.

You can see it here: http://www.comfycampers.co.uk/meet-the-campers/lilly/ (http://www.comfycampers.co.uk/meet-the-campers/lilly/)

A 1963 Mini
engine mountings were so loose that i couldn't always get into third gear

slidy front windows that could be opened from the outside

there was a design flaw which had the two parts of the floor pan set so that the rear half was below the front which meant that when the road was wet water came into the car. Got everywhere but the driver's seat area. Drove from Northampton to Nottingham for the Goose Fair one night and when we pulled up at the top of the slip road we actually heard the wave of water hitting the front bulkhead! My then gf, now wife, was in the passenger seat and her trousers were wet to just below the knee

I loved that car :)

Austin Allegro Sport

Very nippy, but soon after buying I broke reverse gear, so always gave lifts to Uni mates just in case I needed to go backwards :D

Jenson Interceptor ~1971.

It wasn't mine but I borrowed it countless times as it belonged to a close friend and it didn't half make an impression.

First car I owned was a 1966 Ford Cortina MKI 1500GT. Cost almost as much to insure as it was to buy even then. Pretty happy with my present car TBH.

never has anyone heard a car that sounded more like a dyson, it didnt even have a rev counter! Didnt like corners! didnt like hills either, I went on a road trip with a few friends in it to Scarborough and coming from the south there is an all mighty hill you drive down to get there. You know the type with the gradient % on the sign's to warn you, anyway.  On my way back with four of us in the car I was doing 40mph up this hill foot nailed to the floor in 2nd gear and I was slowing down!! haha, great little car for memories. not much else.

Started off with an 1100 Mark 1 Escort , brilliant first car for a lad just passed his test. Plenty of bumps and scrapes meant the bodywork was more filler than metal. Worked my way up through Cortinas , Granadas and Beemers until i bought this old gal.
Best car i ever owned.

This was one of my favourite cars I owned and was the start of my love affair with VW Golfs.

Eventually progressed to an R32. It got stolen and smashed up :(

Currently drive 335D Xdrive. Absolute beast of a car but no soul.
