Fancy renting one of these for a week up in Scotland in a couple of months as I've never done it before.

It all seems pretty expensive (£100+ per day) which seems a bit ridic considering you need to pay camp site fees on top which is pretty much the price of a half decent hotel all said and done.

Anyway, would probably be willing to pay ~£75 per day for a Small 2 berth motor home, was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations or experience with this?

I realise I can get a camper VAN within my budget, but would prefer something a touch bigger if possible.

http://www.spaceshipsrentals.co.uk (http://www.spaceshipsrentals.co.uk) might offer a cheaper alternative at circa £70 a day - admittedly not quite a motorhome but if you want transport and a bed, and not the kitchen amenities its a good option.  Away from something like that you will struggle to beat the £100 a day rate in my experience.

Not sure if you are looking to pick up whilst in Scotland.

Yeah seen them and a few other similar sites with vans in that price range. Might have to go for it but would prefer something a bit bigger hence the question.

Cheers, yeah once again looks like the smaller cars/vans that are cheaper. It might be that what I want simply doesn't exist at the price I'm willing to pay.

If it makes a difference I can pick up in east mids, Scotland or anywhere en-route.

Seem to have found something decent for £80 per day so sorted now  :)

Fooking hell this is hard work. Why is this not as easy as renting a car?

With a bit of luck Sturgeon or Salmond will stray on front on me on my trip  8)

The whole process is like pulling teeth, not sure why they can't make it simpler like when renting a car.

Insurance will be on top of whatever price they quote you, typically £10-15 a day, they will want a lump up front as deposit, I had to hand over £1250 which I will get back after assuming no damage.

Not sure I would have done it if I'd known in advance all the terms and conditions they set out. Anyway I'll see how much I enjoy the trip and reserve full judgement for now as to whether a hotel have been a better option, the motor home won't really save any money over a hotel to be honest.
