Title: Motorbike raffle - In aid of Nepal Post by: EvilPie on April 28, 2015, 04:53:03 PM A Nepalese friend of mine is raffling off his beloved motorbike to raise funds to send back to his home country following the recent devastating earthquake.
It's a Ducati 749. No idea how much it's worth but the point obviously isn't about the bike it's about the gesture. Believe me this bike is his absolute pride and joy and for him to give it away I know how he must feel about this disaster. He's without doubt one of the most generous and pleasant people I've ever had the privilege to meet and I assure you I would've said that long before this particular act of selflessness. As one example he's been single handedly sponsoring an orphanage in Nepal for many years calling all the children there 'his kids'. He's going to be on BBC1 tonight at 6.30pm talking about what he's doing so you can have a look to make sure this is legit. I'm sure he's going to easily make his £5k target before starting the raffle but the more he makes the better it's going to be for him as the guy who's giving up the most. If anyone would like any tickets please let me know and I'll handle collections. I'm sure plenty of people will vouch for me if you don't know me personally. They're £50 for 5 tickets but if anybody wants different multiples it obviously won't be a problem as I'll make it up to the round fifty. Couple of facebook links here for those that have it. https://www.facebook.com/gurkha.kitchen/media_set?set=a.922486421136824.1073741873.100001264242628&type=1 https://www.facebook.com/roadcraftnottingham/posts/799360056806472 I don't normally get involved in anything like this but given what my friend is giving up I think a few facebook shares and trying to drum up a bit of interest for him is the least I can do. Thanks for reading. Title: Re: Motorbike raffle - In aid of Nepal Post by: GreekStein on April 28, 2015, 05:20:35 PM I'll take 5 tickets Matt if I can give the £50 to you on stars

Cash in Vegas maybe?? Title: Re: Motorbike raffle - In aid of Nepal Post by: EvilPie on April 28, 2015, 11:34:51 PM Bit more info on the bike. If they're drawing the raffle at £5000 worth of tickets then this is one of the fairest raffles you'll ever enter.
I'm pretty sure this will sell out as Andeep is such a popular guy and lots of people are supporting him so if you want in let me know asap. Title: Re: Motorbike raffle - In aid of Nepal Post by: typhoon13 on April 29, 2015, 10:45:17 PM £50 please Matt
Just let me know how you want paying please If i win let him keep his Bike, he deserves it Title: Re: Motorbike raffle - In aid of Nepal Post by: EvilPie on April 29, 2015, 11:32:39 PM £50 please Matt Just let me know how you want paying please If i win let him keep his Bike, he deserves it Trev you're a star. That was my plan as well to be honest and I'm sure several others are the same but I can't decide if it's the best way forward. I know that Andeep's goal in this is to raise as much money as possible to send out there so possibly auctioning the bike would be best and donating the cash raised. Also as he's capping this at £5k worth of tickets maybe it would be best to donate the tickets back if he sells out? I guess that's one to think about if it happens. My plan was to get about £200 worth myself so with £100 of pledges on here and a few more from facebook friends it looks like I'll be buying at least £300 :) Title: Re: Motorbike raffle - In aid of Nepal Post by: Woodsey on April 29, 2015, 11:50:30 PM Happy to lob in £20, any way that can work?
Title: Re: Motorbike raffle - In aid of Nepal Post by: EvilPie on April 29, 2015, 11:52:16 PM I've just been chatting to Russ who's a friend of Andeep's helping him organising the raffle. It seems demand for the tickets has been really good and it looks like selling the £5k worth too easily. I was wondering from the start why he'd capped it and now that they look like easily getting there it's given them a dilemma.
Anyway the youtube clip below explains it all. If any of you guys want out let me know by PM. I won't out you don't worry :D YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLvoW5WjbNk Title: Re: Motorbike raffle - In aid of Nepal Post by: EvilPie on April 29, 2015, 11:53:40 PM Happy to lob in £20, any way that can work? Yeah obviously same here but these guys are all great fellas and they want to make sure nobody thinks they were being misled. I think they've been shocked by the demand to be honest. Title: Re: Motorbike raffle - In aid of Nepal Post by: EvilPie on May 01, 2015, 06:49:28 PM Hey guys. Just to let you know the raffle is now sold out with £10k collected.
There's still 3 days to go for the draw so who knows how many he could've sold if they'd just let it run....? I've bought tickets for everyone even if they said they weren't bothered and were just making a donation. If a ticket assigned to one of those people wins (includes myself btw) then maybe we can re-raffle it or get the bike on ebay to raise more to donate on behalf of Andeep. I'll get a picture of our tickets and everyone's assigned numbers posted as soon as I've collected them. We have £400 worth in total so we have a chance. I want everyone to have them in their name so that if we win and it gets donated back the right person gets the credit for their generosity. The draw is on Monday at the Gurkha Kitchen in Nottingham (Andeep's restaurant). He's having a classic car show in his car park which had already been arranged prior to the disaster but is now going to help raise more money. If anybody wants to attend let me know and I'll give you details. Title: Re: Motorbike raffle - In aid of Nepal Post by: EvilPie on May 03, 2015, 02:31:37 PM Bought 8 strips of tickets on Friday night for a total contribution of £400. Title: Re: Motorbike raffle - In aid of Nepal Post by: Woodsey on May 03, 2015, 03:55:55 PM Btw, I don't want the bike. If in the unlikely event I bink it he can keep the bike, or do another raffle if he wants to raise more. Up to him basically.
Title: Re: Motorbike raffle - In aid of Nepal Post by: EvilPie on May 06, 2015, 04:08:30 PM Facebook link with the final score for the Nepal fundraiser:

Thank you to everyone who chipped in for some tickets on here. We didn't do any wins but I'm sure everyone is happy enough knowing that you've been able to help out with this worthy cause. Thanks again!! Matt |
