Title: Interesting hand, do you call me here?
Post by: The Camel on May 10, 2015, 11:22:37 PM
Local £50 tournament.

3 tables left, Average is 45k and I have bang on that number. Villian has me covered (around 70k)

Blinds 400-800/100

MP chip leader makes it 2000 play.

I call. Villain calls on the button. One of the blinds calls too.

We see a flop of  Ks  8s  8h

Blind and opener check.

I bet 5200. Villain calls with  Kh Jd other two players fold.

Turn card  9c

I check, villain bets 4500. I call.

River is  Qs

I shove for 30k ish.

What do you put me on, and do you call with his holding?

I would put you on a hand that is beating my k j and fold.

I have no idea what you're trying to rep.

I have no idea what you're trying to rep.

So you call?

I have no idea what you're trying to rep.

Flush or JT seems reasonable.

Can't think of any bluffs Keith could have, except a hand like 67, but seems far more likely that he has something than nothing to put it simply.

Having said that, thread wreaks of "how could he call my bluff with that?"

I misread the HH and didn't realise the flopped flush draw got there. I'm more than likely folding for sure barring some read.

If he'd seen you valuebetting hands a lot on the river rather than shoving or he had a timing tell like you shoved really quick for the first time then I can understand a reason for calling. It's possible that it's a live tournament and people just don't like to fold top pair though :)

I would fold, I think you could have a flush and I think you could also have an 8.

This seems a pretty foolish spot to be just getting the cannons out in a local live comp, I understand we can all be foolish at times but I would assume you weren't being

I think it looks a lot like an 8. Don't think you ever have JT unless JTss.

Can have some flushes as well of course.  Would be a pretty optimistic take off with KT, QJ etc so I don't expect you to have that a lot.

I guess you can have 99 or QQ as well sometimes (maybe all the combos of 9s and 1 of QQ.)

I just fold unless I've seen you gan mental recently or have a really solid read as I really don't expect you to be leading a flop without initiative 4 way with any sort of pure air and the flopped draw plus the backdoor got there. Only bluff you can really have (imo) is Q9 but even that's hard as you can't have Qs. There are maybe some other hands like Js9x, AsQx but again I don't see how you bet the flop and then decide to check call on good barrelling turns.

The way it's played out it's really hard to find bluffs you can have, which leads me to believe you're bluffing in this particular hand lol

KJ is only chopping with any K, so the only hand KJ beats is air that bluffed the flop and then called the small turn bet with the intention of pushing any river.  Which seems like a bit of an advanced play.

So that leaves an 8, a flush or Kx for a chop, so prob a fold, but a lot of ppl like to get one over on a "name" player, so wouldn't be surprised if you got a call.

I think its a hero call on the end as played.

Its one of them, if you feel youre taking off, you call KJ. I don't think KJ should call here its credible for your all your 8s and flushes basically good hands to shove river with a psb after a few hours of play, good players tend to exploit villains thin calls with shoves imo and this seems like one of them in all honesty feel the range of villain is capped with his turn sizing to K8 and Kx as 8x just protects vs flushes with a bigger sizing.

I feel like if youre the type of player who likes to take the initiative 4 handed on flops like K44r if OR checks then you'll probs feel like doing the same with K88ss so it how youve played before that could persuade me into a call

Betting 4 way on this flop with a hand that is bluffing river doesn't seem like a great idea.

I had 99.

Ok, was thinking along the same lines as Alex :)

Reasons for checking turn?

Stockton.

I've decided to play a bit more regularly, online is so tough now, and I enjoy playing live.

Maybe I'll see you there one time soon.

Reasons for checking turn?

Trying to make it look I was just have a stab at the pot on the flop, then giving up on the turn.

His sizing was strange - he's giving me over 6/1 about calling, so I figure he's either insanely strong 88, 89 or K8. At the very least an 8 or he's making a strange value bet with just a king.

I decided to instashove the river, regardless. If he's got an 8 he's calling I thought no what comes. And if it's a blank, he might really call me down weak.

QS was about the worst card I could see, but he called anyway :)

weak line you took here & got very lucky on the turn, avoid the variance by checking this flop as you will be massively behind a high percentage of the time. However, as played KJo is a clear fold on the river IMO
