Title: "Next Big Blind Please"
Post by: sharky_uk on May 21, 2015, 06:59:15 AM
Needing to balance the tournament tables, the TD comes to our table "Next Big Blind Please". The TD then realises that the next big blind is a gentleman in a wheelchair (with a big chipstack). Should he continue to move this gentleman or take the big blind from a different table? Does it matter?

Should still move him.

Should still move him, he is the next big blind and that is the local rule.

Only really matters though in a situation where your table is the only one with the most players eg 4 tables, 28 left, you have 8 and the others have 7-7-6, as your table has to be the one that loses a player.

But once the TD has come over and asked for the next bb, the next bb should move whether he be able bodied/in a wheelchair/blind/piss drunk. TD just has to realise that he will probably need to transport the chips etc over.

the only reason not to move him would be if he couldn't actually sit/get to the other table.

needs a bit of extra effort on the TDs part, but no reason to not move the guy

I'd say this. Some card rooms you need to be an Olympic gymnast to get into a seat that's tucked away in the corner or there are two huge fat guys gonna be sat either side. Common sense>>>>rules

If there's an obvious problem moving the wheelchair then it has to be someone different- common sense always takes precedence. Both rule 1 and rule 8 of the TDA rules cover this. Allowances MUST be made for players with particular needs; we currently have two players with severe mobility problems that will always start in one of two particular seats with the best access. Moving them from the BB would cause huge disruption and end up delaying the game. It's really a no brainer.

always move the player wheelchair or not, pissed me off once in blackpool when i thought i was getting a move from a tough PLO table with el blondie on my left, then when i had gathered my things and asked where i was going they said it was ok they moved someone from another table. It was my turn to be moved and i was begging for a move.

anotehr thing that pisses me off is a seat being looked out for me in the draw to save me moving from one area to another area and being put on tables that break earlier

i like to move tables when i am in a groove so people dont get too much a read on how i am playing a move is just as good as gear change

I am a big supporter of common sense in these situations.
