Hello all

I will be in Vegas between the 10th and 17th June.  I very much concentrate on O8 now, so will be playing the $3k plo8 (14/6) and the $1k plo(11/6) at the WSOP and $600 plo (15/6) and plo8 (12/6) tournaments at the Venetian.  I won a plo8 FTOPS last year and I feel I am playing much better at plo8/nlo8 than hold em, so am just going to stick to omaha on the stake.  Anything else I play will be off stake. Last time I played the 3k plo8 a couple of years ago and went about 50th and 30 odd were paid.  The standard really isn't high in the plo8 events, with a much higher proportion of people who have no idea than your average hold em tournament.  I am fairly sure somebody tried to play the set in his hand 2 tables out when Tikay ran deep.

In my hold em days I got 2nd in GUKJPT London for £72k and 1st in the highroller on Winamax for about the same.  The latter was on a stake here. Hence I shouldn't be falling apart at any final table.

Morale should be good as I blagged a room in the Encore for this trip.  I can't see me doing much boozing during the stake, so we should be in OK physical shape each day.

I have played several thousand NLO8 sit and goes this year, so am fairly sure of ranges, though I might have to slow down a bit when the blinds are more than 2 minutes long.  My holdem manager says I am officially a whale, which amuses me quite a bit.  I don't think they adjust the numbers betwen slow paced holdem events with 100 BBs and NLO8 hypers where you often have 5 BBs and just have to shove nearly every hand.

I'll probably play a couple of small hold em tournaments at the Wynn on off days (off stake), but don't think that will cause issues unless I get close to the final table of the Saturday one.   Obv if I miss anything, either because of that, or because I reach day 2 of any of the above, or just because I feel bad, I will return with mark up.

I will be selling at 1.1.  I have sold 15% to previous investors.  Not sure if I can reveal names, so lets call them flat cap anon, Sky's best poker analyst anon and best dressed anon.

There is only a max of 5% left and I will not be selling more than that.

1% is $57.20.  5% is $286.

I haven't included re-entries, but I can do them at the Venetian.  There doesn't seem to be a limit, but it is only 3 levels (2 hours).  If I make any, I will only charge 1.0.  I think setting a premium on re-entries creates an (extra) incentive to bust a short stack, so I won't do that.   You can set a max number of re-entries, and I will let you know if I make one as soon as I can.  I will just make them if I feel good and think I am still value.   I will say now, I am unlikely to make more than 1 in the omaha, as I suspect I'll be tilted after 2 busts, but am very confident in my plo8 game at this standard, so will probably just keep rebuying!  The most likely outcome is I will make none, so don't think we need to take money now.  If I make any you can just settle these after, or hopefully take them from teh winnings. 

Can take on stars or cash in Vegas (10th to the 17th only), or if you want bank numbers let me know.

Plane is at gate 13.  I don't normally believe this nonsense but feeling a bit put out by this turn of events.  Surely they can go gate 12, gate 14 like they do in some hotels.  Maybe good to get the negative variance in early.  Paid extra £50 for exit row and got a little shelf by my side which is a bonus.  Leg room about 2 metres. 

Got 2725 at break from 5k starting.  Got close to 8k near start. Had top set and nut flush draw twice in big 3 way pots vs made straights and missed both times.  Also managed to check out of turn on a turn scare card which seemed a bad mistake.

Table not too bad and it is 75/150 going back so we are still ok.

Quick update.  Re-entries are for 4 levels today and not 3 as originally claimed.  This makes it a little more likely I am going to re-enter.  I should have 50 BBs when it ends, so I still think no re-entry is the most likely scenario.

Woke up at 5:30 today, but must have had 8 hours or close.  Got up just in time to see the sun rise, which was pretty nice.  Today's comp starts at 5pm, but think we should be fine to the end as I have had enough sleep.

Hopefully today's field will be like that at yesterday's game at Planet Hollywood.  Just have to be disciplined and bet when we are big favourites and they will call it seems.  Definitely no point in getting fancy early doors.

Make sure you buy in early - at the PLO @ Venetian last week, there were over 50 Alternates waiting, & it all got a bit heated, as Venetian would or could not open additional tables.

Think I plan to get across there at around 4pm, then maybe go buy a coffee or cruise round Walgreens.

Thanks Tikay.  I will aim to get there about 4 and I owe you a latte.  I assume 4 is early enough.  Guess that scuppers the re-entry option, but that may not be a bad thing.

4, or even 4.30, would be fine (I'm OTT obsessional about buying in early), as to re-entries, possibly.

The PLO was a $600 with a $30,000 Guarantee (so they were looking for 50 runners), & it made $99,000, so you get the drift. Not sure PLO8 will be so popular, but you never know, & Venetian is so busy, they'll only allocate x tables to it.

Anyway, I'm aiming for 4pm or just after. Don't forget to bring your Players Card thingie ("GRAZIE").

I saw a lot of weird hands yesterday.  I just remembered another 1.  This is omaha.  I think I am UTG+1.  Fella on my left plays in a live big game.  He is 40s and likes to berate others.  He had about 2400 chips and limped 100(we are 50/100).  Fella on his left raises to 400 (I'd say he was better than average but not massively aggressive.  BB is also good enough but not particularly aggressive and he calls 400.

The fella on my left flashes me AAAK and folds. 

I'd be potting here and loving how my limp plan worked.  I think limp potting is better than raising here as the hand is going to be difficult to play post flop from early position.  I think I can get 1750 of my 2400 chips in pre by limp shoving and will be shoving any flop.  Don't really see any harm in limping and getting no raisers.  The hand is going to be well disguised and we can just check fold a lot of flops correctly multiway and get gin if we hit set over set. Anybody do anything different to me or matey boy?

Tikay.  Will probably just get a coffee and something light before I start.  Guess we don't get a dinner break if we start that late?

Might come down if I bust Nugget Stud  8. If there's  4 levels to buy in or re enter does that make it 7pm last entry?

Fifteen (15) minute break at the completion of levels 3, 9, and 12. There will be a forty five (45) minute dinner break at the completion of level 6, which is approximately 915pm. Play will commence on Day One of tournament and continue until 13 levels have been played. Play will resume on Day Two of tournament at 4pm and continue until a winner has been declared.

Yeah I'm limp/potting with 2.4k all day everyday

Levels are 40 minutes, Simon, but there is a 15 minute Break after Level THREE, so you have until (5pm + 40 +40 +40 +15 +40) = 7.55pm by my reckoning. Blinds start t 50-100, 75-150, 100-200, 150-300. Late Reg players get a full stack but have to await the Big Blind.

Like the limp raise, it's the only way you can get enough leverage to thin the field with your stack.

That 45 minute dinner break seems to both too late and not long enough to eat dinner.  Just makes the grind longer. 

I like that the full Grande Luxe menu is available as poker-room service.  Ask the server how long food orders are taking, and order accordingly during the last level before dinner? 

Thanks Simon.  Level 6 seems to be something I should aim for, at least as a first target.  Outlasting Tikay seems another target.

Got 18k having been down at 6k.  Made several painful correct folds to get down to 6k.  Table not nearly soft enough.  Fun times

The team are relying on you David, animal has already re-entered, and I am in bad shape with 5,000. I might gamble before late reg closes.

Got 15.5k at break.  Fella on my right is going absolutely nuts now he has a big stack.  Could go horribly wrong if I have half a hand next level. 

To be fair to the nutter man, his crazy play hasn't just started after he got a big stack.  After doubling me up earlier he managed to get about 8k in pre with T987 double suited and hit a flush to quadruple up.  He is causing carnage, probably bust 5 or 6 already.

Nutter doubled 2 people up then got his last 17500 all in pre with Q752.  I don't even think he looked at them.  Down to 12.

Bluff shoved on a 3 club board with the ace of clubs.  Called by the 4th nuts.  Out.  I wouldn't call me, but unfortunately he was fairly new to the table and had been given a ton of chips by the nutter.

Missed re-entry by 2 minutes.

Would probably have worked better if I had enough chips for a river shove, but I didn't.  Maybe he'd have called anyway?  Not to worry, on to the big one on Sunday.

Zero chance of that.  Will ache horribly.  Going to have a swim in a bit.  Think that is my limit.

PH to the Wynn is a walk.  It is pretty unpleasant in this weather.  I know this from very recent experience.

Why has nobody ever told me how nice it is sat by a pool in Vegas at 8am?  The temperature isn't unbearable yet and the whole pool was empty apart from me.  I am going to have to revise my plan and start going to bed early again!

They do a really good breakfast there, but sure it would be 5/10 no bacon, no sausages/eggs not fried in some corners of the Internet.

I managed to get the entire Encore pool to myself at 8.10 this morning.  Really felt like a millionaire, and going to give it another go in the morning.  Got to get the prep for the 3k plo8 perfect. 

Lots of good options at your fingertips, I should eat on property there more than I do!  Terrace Point is better than Society Cafe for breakfast imo, Society cafe better for lunch in the Wynn/Encore stakes.  Tableau is great for breakfast, pretty healthy on the whole and the sort of place where Tikay and Jeeves might be entertained... starched napkins and everything :)  7 a.m breakfast, 8a.m European pool, perfect start to any day :D

Had to have a change of plan as England are playing. 

I noticed a few people taking their breakfast out to the pool yesterday.  Orange juice, coffee and a couple of pastries by the pool doesn't seem so bad either. 

Instead I chose to watch the football.  Ho hum.  Not sure this is going to be good for morale.

Messed up a couple of hands.  One I think I could have played very differently and much better.  There is a very aggro player on my left.  Going to be a car crash hand at some stage for one of us.

Bliff potted the flop, now on 6.5k.  Such a boss. 

Gone.  Had the nut straight on the turn, and just had to go for it on the turn as so short,  turned out I was freerolling the nut low with a flush draw which inevitably hit.  The issue was I was going to have to call the river whatever hit and there was a good chance I was against A2 and A2.

Just spoke to the aggro fella.  The real nasty hand was 665Kss board and I had AKQ2 no spades facing pot pot.  The last one was for 4500 and I had 10k behind.  I thought he was playing too wild but had no confirmation at the time.  Only later I saw him potting with just bad lows a couple of times.  Came so close to shoving OTT twice and stopped myself.  The problem was that he was so wild he could easily have had a 6 as his potting open range must have been so wide.  Normally you'd be worried about AA here. I should have shoved having talked to him. 

Am in 30 seat 1.  Managed my first full nights sleep since I got here, so feeling good.  Definitely due a good start in one of these tournaments.

As well as the two hands detailed here, we also got to the river in 2 massive pots with big equity and chopped.  Tikay tells me that at least we are still 0/0 so not too bad.

Got 19k or so from 15.  Not an easy table but good to get a half decent start at last.

J987 vs K987 on a T65 rainbow flop.  We turned a diamond draw, but king high wins.  Really. 

I don't think I would have played many hands differently with hindsight.  I think we just ran bad this time.  1 day left and am now bound to run like God in the Wynn daily or the Rio deepstack.  Thanks everyone for investing.  Just wasn't to be.

We are all looking a bit jaundiced, not sure if that is the light or photo taking tekkers.

Played my last tournament yesterday and failed to cash again, so 0/0 for me on this trip.  I'd forgotten how unpleasant it is to play poker in a smoky atmosphere.  I was on a table at the edge in the Encore near somebody smoking at one of the machines.  Don't know if it was that or just wear and tear from the air conditioning, but my throat was really suffering when I finished. 

I haven't done Society Cafe in the Encore before, but had a really good burger there afterwards.  Definitely better than the one I had earlier in the week at zoozoo crackers in the wynn. No idea why there was such big variance as the suppliers must be the same.  It came with better mustard and sweet potato fries which were both a plus too.

Last trip to the pool for me soon.

Good to meet you two Fraser.  Would have tried to arrange something for last night, but genuinely felt bad when I finished.  Have had some cough sweets so throat is a lot better this morning.

Never sat outside Terrace Point Cafe on a morning but even more pleasant than inside.  Not sure it will be at midday though.  Just witnessed some Germans trying to order eggs.  It was like two different languages.  "I want them cooked longer than usual", so I just assume he wants standard fried eggs with hard yolks.  "You want them over easy?", confused looks, so she just repeats it slower. He replies "Is that where you turn them over? No I just want them cooked longer".  "Sunny side up?"  "Yes".  "Oh we can do that".  What price he gets soft yolks?

Poached eggs definitely the best order, couldn't go through that every time.

Edit.  No idea how runny they were, but they were definitely over easy.
