Title: Funk for Wellchief Post by: Ironside on July 14, 2015, 09:15:19 PM not since the days of William Wallace has a common lad had a chance to Unite the Clans of Scotland.
But tonight not only has George McDonald got that chance but he has the chance to Unite the Whole of the UK against the mighty combined Foes of USA, Canada , Israel, Germany and Italy. Well maybe not the whole of the UK but all of Blondepoker and most of the British poker playing community. Wellchief a member of blondepoker since august 2005 has the opportunity tonight to move from 26/27 into the November Nine and get a chance to play for some life changing money All the best from me, play well and run better and take this down. Title: Re: Funk for Wellchief Post by: Dewi_cool on July 14, 2015, 09:18:27 PM Nice one Ironside. gl George :)up

one double up and right into the middle of the pack go get them chief Title: Re: Funk for Wellchief Post by: MintTrav on July 15, 2015, 03:11:30 AM Showing 12th now, mainly from others losing some.
He has been about two off the bottom all day, though, and is still there. Looks like Negreanu has walked into one. Gone from 8th to 15th in the counts. No update yet. Title: Re: Funk for Wellchief Post by: MintTrav on July 15, 2015, 03:15:54 AM Bloody updaters. Negreanu was showing 15th with 1.xm. Was obviously a mistype cos now he's 8th again with 11.7m. How hard is it to type the numbers correctly for 15 players?
Title: Re: Funk for Wellchief Post by: Ironside on July 15, 2015, 03:46:55 AM George 3 bet shoves 77 into chip leaders AA and his 77 hold with a 9 high straight for a double up

george is just under 14 million 6/13 danny n just went down to 2 million then look like a treble up on just about 6 million now Title: Re: Funk for Wellchief Post by: Ironside on July 15, 2015, 04:56:29 AM grrr chips updated george has lost 8 million back to 13/13 as it look like they are going to dinner still waiting on the hand
but george has been close to shortest stack for past 2 days so no need to panic just time to get some hands edit panic over chip count now has him +7 million he raise folded 500k Title: Re: Funk for Wellchief Post by: MereNovice on July 15, 2015, 06:03:00 AM Just caught up.

Title: Re: Funk for Wellchief Post by: WellChief on July 16, 2015, 12:58:52 AM Thanks for all the support guys , not too disappointed as should have been out a few times but once you get there playing a 25 million pot as 80% favourite, pretty gutting! Feel a little more bad for all my mates back home who'd lined up a Vegas trip in November.
Thought it would be good to ask in here, does anyone have any experience with cashing a big foreign cheque? Don't know the best way to go about it, obviously want to minimise the exchange costs. Cheers! Title: Re: Funk for Wellchief Post by: Marky147 on July 16, 2015, 01:00:32 AM Paging Mr Galloway...
Great run, and unlucky at the end. George. Title: Re: Funk for Wellchief Post by: Woodsey on July 16, 2015, 01:04:09 AM does anyone have any experience with cashing a big foreign cheque? Title: Re: Funk for Wellchief Post by: arbboy on July 16, 2015, 01:36:40 AM VWP sir. As a fellow old school crypto user what was your old crypto name if you don't mind me asking?
Title: Re: Funk for Wellchief Post by: WellChief on July 16, 2015, 02:18:53 AM I had a few different ones, Kautostar, PBear, Willywonky. Well chief was my name back in the Tribeca days! Always been more of a cash game player though.

Great achievement, you should be really proud of yourself, we can all understand how you feel with the 80/20 (not the exact situation obviously). Now thats its been a few days has it fully sunk in with what you have achieved? If someone said to you give us back the money but you can be in the November 9 winner takes all what would you do? Hope im not coming across as a dick asking that question but it just really interests me on how important situations like this can be for people, i would imagine Negraneu would answer that question yes, but how does one of the lads off Blonde answer it? I hope the money brings lots of happiness to you and your family, some great memories and stories to tell for years to come. Well done. Title: Re: Funk for Wellchief Post by: AndrewT on July 16, 2015, 12:12:06 PM Unlucky George and well played - you were close to having a deep run.

Thanks , its not really sunk in yet, bit of a sobering return to Scotland with the gales and the rain but it's good to get back to normality! As regards to giving back the money to go back in November definitely not, it would have been great to make it but its all about the $ at the end of the day. That final dinner break was the only time I actually considered or thought I would make the final table! Myself and RobS had a strategy all mapped out for the following 2 levels which was going to make it very difficult to get knocked out, think he was a little shocked when he came back from watching the all in at the other table and saw all my chips in the middle with QQ v T8! Engy I definitely remember playing Raistlin, we used to battle with Moorman at the cash tables back in the day right? Still the best poker software i've played on :D Haha MintTrav it was funny reading about that Newcastle cash in every report in the last few days, it wasn't me but I think it worked in my favour all the way through the tournament up until perhaps the final hand! I saw that they other day and thought "Some Geordie kid going to be gutted he didn't get his flag" :P Congrats on a huge score, and also on having the experience of going so deep in the Main. |
