By way of experiment because I've got no time to type I'm speaking this into a voice recognition program.

I want to have a bet on the golf but I don't have any betting accounts and uh I don't know whether I'm best to just open an account or about their account Are Us somebody else on here to put a bet on for me and transfer it to them by and do a bank transfer it on PokerStars or something.

What do you think?

Looks like Pleno has hacked your account.  I can put it on for you.  Just tell me what you want.  You missed all the good each way terms tho.

By opening a new account, you could avail yourselves of a variety of offers or free bets. New accounts are very valuable to bookmakers, and they offer all sorts of inducements.

Free bets when you open accounts are very good.  I opened far too many accounts without enough thought and missed offers and wasted the offers on most of the rest.

I am sure some other posters could let you know how much some accounts are worth even without you ever even betting on them!

Tom - Bet365 have an offer where if you deposit anything up to £200 as your initial deposit they will double it.  You have to bet the balance a few times to be able to withdraw it but it's a pretty good offer.

Don't you still have a Ladbrokes account - just log on using the poker details. Or other poker/bookies accounts?  What do you want to bet on?

ps dictation app working well unless you were actually asking for directions to somewhere.

He has a Sky Poker account, too, and they have a common wallet, so there is no need to transfer money between poker and sports betting, unlike Ladbrokes which, bizarrely, still require us to transfer between separate wallets.

Tom is sat at home waiting for his voice recognition app to read him all the answers.  Mrs Red, Mrs Red this app is bloody useless, am off to walk Poppy.  Will switch it off and on again when I get back.  Bloody technology.

Thanks very much guys, espesh Doobs who offered to place my bets.

All I want to do really is place a few fun bets for myself and my daughter Redsgirl. She's the only one in the family who takes an interest in sport so she is my TV sports watching and discussion partner.

We will just pick 5 players each at a couple of quid a throw or something like that.

I have a Sky account so that looks like the easiest way to do it.

Will I get the price that's showing when I place the bets?

Yes you should do.  It should comfirm the price to you before you finally put your bet on.

So you find golfer, select him, then their should be a stake box comes up.  If you want win and place select click each way.  That bet costs £4 if £2 e/w.  Otherwise you will get £2 win only.

edit, just had a go and there is another box that states check bet before placing, you might have to click this if you want to be sure.  But I just check what is on the slip before placing.

Bet365 is the best offer, but it's not the one you should do first. It would require Tom placing £1200 of bets and I don't think that's what he wants to do.

Don't waste your account opening offers. You are only a new customer once. With a little thought and planning you can make decent money.

Think Tom will have poker accounts with a lot of the bookies so won't get many new player bonuses imho

They have the same login details so I wouldn't imagine so.

That would vary from firm to firm.

I would imagine that if you have an account with Sky Poker, you automatically have one with Sky Bet, (& Vegas, Bingo, Casino) as it is a Common Wallet.

Pretty sure of that, otherwise you could Bonus Whore on each of those sites. You CAN take advantage of the various offers each arm has, but as to New Account Bonuses, no, I doubt it.

That was a much better & more succinct answer. Jeez, it has come to a pretty pass when a Scot writes better than an English bloke.

I doubt I'll ever bet often enough to make a difference anyway.

There must be SOME Firms you don't have an account with, Tom?

It does not matter that you don't or won't bet much - some Firms offer a Free Bet to new Accounts. That's free money. Several of the TfT regulars will explain how you can optimise Free Bets.

For bonuses it depends on the site. Some treat you as an existing customer, some treat you as a new customer if you only played poker.
I know both Coral and 888 gave me silly odds on the footie as a new customer even though had the poker accounts for years!!

You would have got 4 days of fabulous entertainment and the additional bonus of beating Mr Kendall thrown in at no extra cost.

Absolutely no reflection on Mr Mere. He does a fabulous job and I'm full of admiration for him, but...

For me, this feels like work.

It's like those car racing games on X Box and PlayStation. They make them uber realistic. You have to choose the correct tyres, gear ratios, suspension settings etc, otherwise your car is crap.what's more, if you crash your fecked.

I just want to race without having to mess with stuff first. Give me a totally unrealistic beast of a car with just an accelerator and a brake to control it. One that shoots fireballs at the competition when I overtake and miraculously rights itself after I crash. Then just let me go and have fun.

well when you are ready sub-markets are where your knowledge can often exceed that of the bookmaker

the more specialist the market in the more minor event, the greater the chance of the mis-pricing
