Title: Non Oddschecker Bookies
Post by: BigAdz on July 25, 2015, 12:42:29 PM
Just watched The Morning Line, and never realised Geoff Banks had an online operation.

Checked it out and it seemed to be ok. Odds were strong but concessions were relatively poor, ie 1-4 in the 29 runner race.

That said he is already 1-5 in the Stewards Cup next week when nearly all are currently 1-4

Purpose of the thread is to open the door to other outlets we may not know about/take decent sized bets/don't close it the minute you take an early price that shrinks etc.

Without wishing to look, do companies like Jennings/Sunderlands/Corebetts still exist/operate and online operation.

Anyone have any names/experience/comments/feedback on other bookies we could all benefit from.

Maybe share referral codes to get you/us a free bet/bonus etc.

All help gratefully received.

Does anyone know any other firms that use the VC/BetVictor platform apart from McBookie please?

Hi Adz.

I used Jennings once (online) and it was not a satisfactory experience.

Isn't there a former "poker world" guy who works for them?

I opened up a Geoff Banks account for NFL lines that they were slightly different on the season before last.

Didn't like the feel of the place and haven't been back after first couple of bets. It's all a bit too personal and feels like you are betting with some bloke sitting in his front room.

Don't know if it's changed much since then though...

Hi Adz.

I used Jennings once (online) and it was not a satisfactory experience.

Was it a winning bet and took their time to pay out? What made it unsatisfactory Boss?

I had a painful experience with Betbright the other day. Had made several deposit/withdrawals over the past year, but as soon as I had a decent tickle, they wanted all the stuff that they normally ask for at the start (passport/bill/copy of card etc). Almost wish these clowns would ask for it before you can even place a bet, so we are square from day 1 minute 1.

Think it was a deceptively worded "offer" during Cheltenham 2 years ago.

Don't recall the exact reason, but I know I was a bit miffed. Quite unusual, as I am generally unmiffable with bookies.

Yes, Steve Templeman was (or is) an Ambassador for them.

Ah yes that's the one. Remember him being a regular in Luton when I first ventured into live poker comps many years ago. Back when cheesy poker was around.

Cheesy Poker, I think.

Based in Milton Keynes, iirc.

Was a sort of home game, with a website.

Think Ali may have worked for Virgin Poker later. Virgin Poker, anyone remember them?

Really? Well done.

Seem to remember they did a deal with blonde for some MTT's or some such.

Don't think the site lasted long. At the time, every man and his dog were opening online poker sites. That party never lasted long. Amazing how many sites have disappeared in the last 10 years.

Here's a bit of nostalgia for those who remember courtesy of the web archives:

Oh, and the Pictures Section (https://web.archive.org/web/20070630050141/http://www.cheeseypoker.co.uk/casino/AllPlayersPictures.aspx) that disappeared towards the end. Lots of younger faces than we're used to there!

That photo section is too good, thank you.

Am going to steak it for the "Whatever happened to?" thread.

Interesting alphabetical coincidence has Pinky and Perky sitting next to each other in the picture gallery.
