Title: Big $22, what to do?
Post by: nlfreddie on August 17, 2015, 02:23:30 PM
Deep in the Big $22 on pokerstars. Having started with around 6500 players, we are down to the last 151 players. $20k up top. I am currently 108th/151.

Blinds are 2000/4000 with a 500ante. I am dealt  Ac Ts in the small blind with a starting stack of 86,000. Action folds to chrisdm  (a pokerstars pro) in the hijack with 180k. He quickly raises to 8000. CO has 140k, button 34k, me 86k and BB 53k behind.

Action folds to me.  There is now 18,500 in the middle. Is this a clear shove with my hand? What hands would you get it in here? Also, are there any tools/charts that people use to help them with these decisions?

Sidenotes: he raises very quickly despite playing 10 tables. Relatively new table so no reads on how people are playing.

I would prefer to 3bet to like 20k than shove. I would also fold to a shove once I 3bet. Don't like flatting as likely to go 3 way or BB will shove.

I think it's close though as we only have 21bb but I like to have a 3bet call/fold range with this amount.

More likely to shove most pairs and AJ AQ KQ.

3bf. He will perceive you as random and tight and won't 4b wide at all.

Have to admit, 3bet folding never crossed my mind, only shove or fold.  I like it, agree that it looks extremely strong so will get lots of folds from him. And because I only 21bigs deep he will rarely flat.

How do you decide on 3bet folding vs shove vs fold with the top 15% of hands in this spot?
