Post by: I KNOW IT on January 31, 2006, 03:07:33 PM
What is the normal structure for a televised tournament? Is there any site which gives this type of info?

I'm not sure but I think the recent speed poker tourneys were played similar to a shoot-out.

Obviously, just televising one table at a time

Channel 5s party poker structure is ludicrus.
The blinds start high and then increase inordinatly to promote action.
The tables chip count is dissproportionate to the blinds at all times and it turns into a crap shoot.
Hey it;s all about good t.v though, right?

The William Hill Grand Prix was 10,000 chips, start at 25/50 and 40 minute levels.

Doesn't matter what structure is supposed to work, once the TV crew get on the case and start interfering then it all changes anyway. I personally think it is disgraceful as TV games are usually the bigger comps, and the players get messed around because "the crew" have to get home because they are only contracted for 4 hours etc. The bigger comps should have a relevant amount of play regardless of TV there or not. It is up to us to put our foot down or to the players to boycott events if this is what will happen. I was quoted £12,000 for a company to record our festival, and they wanted the final to finish in 3 hours END OF. Guess what ...... no deal :D

Sorry rant over!
