Title: Do poker players actually know the rules. Post by: 77dave on September 10, 2015, 11:59:36 PM it amazes me how many people complain about bad rulings and bad TDs but so many seem to know a lot of basic rules themselves.

Perhaps tell us a bit about the game, where it was held, the facilities and the sort of tournaments held at that venue. Is the food good?

Thought I'd start a new genuine thread. Maybe it's just me but I hear players complaining quite a lot these days about bad rulings against them or things that they have seen at the tables then it turns out they were in the wrong the whole time but don't have the balls to go back and apologise over how they acted. The td explained it to me as "I realise no-one else has this rule and it isn't a great rule, but we have to have it as without it there were too many fights..."

Really struggle to follow how anyone wouldn't get the action right thereafter.

I think because many games were pot limit and it took a week to work out what the correct pot raise was to someone who hadn't acted yet.

Most poker plays know basic rules but only serious players will know most of the rules in detail. Also poker tables are full of punters who are pretty ignorant to a lot of things and blaming the "rules" is usually a convenient excuse Title: Re: Do poker players actually know the rules. 1) inconsistency of rules across operators. 2) lack of consistency within a given venue causing confusion and lack of understanding.
