Title: Help Required: Online usernames and avatars Post by: doublebubble on September 26, 2015, 12:13:15 PM Why did you choose the online username you did?
My friend is studying use of language in various contexts and has decided to analyse the use of specific language/words in online pokernames. If you think you could help with the research, please could you comment on your username, why you thought it appropriate to use and what type of player image were you hoping to portray? Do you think it has achieved the desired effect? Is your choice of Avatar relevant to your playing style or maybe you use it to mislead? Your comments may be used in the assignment but your real name will remain anonymous. Many thanks if you can help, it really is appreciated. If you would prefer PM me thanks in advance Title: Re: Help Required: Online usernames and avatars Post by: TightEnd on September 26, 2015, 12:59:42 PM i have definitely tried female online poker names and avatars in the past - always going to have it, right? - never made any difference!

Still get called every time. Just choose a screen name you like imo. Things like Dave1962 or AnnieBigBoobs are just always the most easily identifiable as regs. Title: Re: Help Required: Online usernames and avatars Post by: Eso Kral on September 26, 2015, 03:17:47 PM Initially had Rich_Black1974 which seemed pretty rubbish after a while so change them all to Eso Kral after I met Petra which means Ace King in Slovak where she is from.
Use George2loose (<3 Bedi) as my stars avatar as people just think that a 50 year old Asian guy is always gonna have it. Title: Re: Help Required: Online usernames and avatars Post by: arbboy on September 26, 2015, 05:48:33 PM Arbboy in 2006 was self explanatory. I was arbing for a living.
Title: Re: Help Required: Online usernames and avatars Post by: bergeroo on September 26, 2015, 06:50:27 PM I named myself after a French football manager. My avatar is the actor John Nettles. I used to use the same name sometimes when DJing.
Yes this makes no sense! Title: Re: Help Required: Online usernames and avatars Post by: OverTheBorder on September 26, 2015, 08:04:19 PM I named myself after a French football manager. I gave you a double, was smashed into the vodkas and wanting bed! I picked my username based on my nickname and the number Hotmail gave me with my email address. Other sites vary but mainly variatons of 7 3 off! Not sure why I picked those, thing to was a worst hand worst player vibe Title: Re: Help Required: Online usernames and avatars Post by: pvas2 on September 26, 2015, 09:14:47 PM Ingeniously my stars name uses the first letter of my first name and then part of my surname! The avatar is of Nadal doing a fistpump because I lost a bet with a player on Murray vs Nadal, with the loser having to use an avatar of the other player.
I imagine it's very rare for players to have much reason behind their username since they probably weren't planning to become a pro or player incredibly regularly. Title: Re: Help Required: Online usernames and avatars Post by: CooperAyIt on September 27, 2015, 12:50:30 PM I mainly use CooperAyIt or variations on that nowadays
my surname is Cooper so that is pretty much self explanatory........ Ay It is a Black Country phrase for 'isn't it' - one of my mates, sadly no longer with us, used to shout 'Cooper Ay it!' every time he saw me anywhere so I guess I use it as a kind of tribute to him Title: Re: Help Required: Online usernames and avatars Post by: scotty2hatty on September 27, 2015, 01:17:42 PM I mainly use CooperAyIt or variations on that nowadays my surname is Cooper so that is pretty much self explanatory........
