They ran a satty for Oktoberfest in my local tiny little casino in the Turkish area of town which only usually has 3 poker tables, but somehow got 80 people. They are closing that casino for the entire WSOPE as all the staff will be at the event.
I'm worried that the casino doesn't have the capacity to handle all the players. Don't think they are using the hotel over the street as in EPTs (the infamous hotel that got robbed) - I am playing Oktoberfest 1a tomorrow at 10am. This is the earliest I have ever played a poker tournament in my entire life! Title: Re: WSOP Europe - Live Streaming & Twitch Post by: tikay on October 13, 2015, 10:11:19 AM Does not seem to be much media interest or discussion on the WSOPE which is now entering Day 6. Good result for John Gale, who finished 2nd for €97,804 in the €550 NLH. He seems to do pretty well considering his recent health issues, & his age (61). I might add that I was thrilled to bits today to receive an e-Mail from Margaret, who is Richard's doting Mum. She watched every hand on the Live stream, heart in mouth. She has been a blonde almost from Day One, solely to follow Richard's progress in Events, & she much appreciated that blonde mentions Richard positively whenever able. I respect Richard immensely, there are few in poker I respect as much. We don't have much in common - his IQ is about quadruple mine, & he does not suffer old fools gladly - but that does not inhibit my admiration for him. I was chuffed to bits when he won "my" UKPC High Roller back in August, too. A shame he is not a forum poster, he used to post here most eloquently, &, typically Richard, bluntly. 32 paid, e883,000 for first given such low numbers is it time for them to admit that wsop Europe is a mistake and ruins the integrity of bracelets? or is it merely the wrong european location? or do you think (if you care) that lowish numbers are ok to expand the wsop franchise to newer territories? Title: Re: WSOP Europe - Live Streaming & Twitch Post by: vegaslover on October 20, 2015, 04:46:14 PM the wsope main got 313 players 32 paid, e883,000 for first given such low numbers is it time for them to admit that wsop Europe is a mistake and ruins the integrity of bracelets? or is it merely the wrong european location? or do you think (if you care) that lowish numbers are ok to expand the wsop franchise to newer territories? It's in the wrong location and poorly marketed imo. Until someone posted it up here a few days prior to it starting, I hadn't even given it much thought. Needs to be in the UK imo. Plenty of players here, including foreign players due to legislation in recent years. I don't think it ruins the integrity of bracelets. Sooo many good players nowadays and such huge fields at the wsop that there needs to be more events imo. Before the poker boom players were winning bracelets with hardly any players in the field and the standard was a lot lower. Title: Re: WSOP Europe - Live Streaming & Twitch Post by: cambridgealex on October 20, 2015, 06:18:48 PM Wasn't at all bothered about it. The field sizes are puny, hard to make an argument for it being a good value stop. All about the glory. There'll be a festival in Malta in a few weeks getting 3-10x the runners for similar sized events - that tells the story imo.
Title: Re: WSOP Europe - Live Streaming & Twitch Post by: AlunB on October 20, 2015, 06:44:49 PM It's a bit down on previous years, but roughly in the ballpark of what's it's always been isn't it?
Title: Re: WSOP Europe - Live Streaming & Twitch Post by: Marky147 on October 20, 2015, 06:51:39 PM Think the only ones that got massive numbers, were the first couple in London?
As Alun said, I don't think it's that out of line with the last few years? Title: Re: WSOP Europe - Live Streaming & Twitch Post by: TightEnd on October 21, 2015, 11:36:34 AM The 2015 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event is down to only 65 players, Niall Farrell is in fourth place. http://ow.ly/TF7fx
Title: Re: WSOP Europe - Live Streaming & Twitch Post by: bergeroo on October 21, 2015, 03:18:29 PM Everyone in Germany is really excited about it. Disagree about it being the wrong location.
The problem was the schedule wasn't actually that good. Esp if you compare it to the EPT schedule the following week. In Europe Stars crushes everyone, so unless they can get loads of online satties running, the fields will always be smaller than EPTs.
