Got home last night, got a water bill in the post this morning about treble my usual one considering i haven't been here for the best part of a month knew something was up. Hopefully this will be a case of buying the part fitting it and everything working ok. I should say the toilet flushes fine and the handle all other parts seems undamaged. Current "fix" is to turn the valve on the side to turn the system of and then turn it back on when i need to use it. Hardly a fix but will do for now. Have tried Youtube e.t.c but so many and not really in the mood to sift through 100 americans flushing their toilets at the moment. Thanks in advance Title: Re: Plumbing (toilet advice) Post by: RED-DOG on October 06, 2015, 01:54:20 PM Looks like the float and or valve is busted. take the whole shebang to somewhere like Wickes, Focus, or your local plunbers merchant and you will be able to buy the bits you need.

Something like that will be fine. After you fit it make sure you adjust the float so that the valve closes and stops the water coming in just before it reaches the overflow pipe. Worth checking because if it's emptying then it's just the seal that's gone so you don't need the whole shebang.
You can also check this by looking in the pan and seeing if the water's moving about a little bit. It shouldn't be.
