Title: Spot in gentings 200 er Anniversary cup Luton town
Post by: nirvana on October 11, 2015, 02:31:42 PM
Mildly interesting hand, interested in thoughts

Day 1  -average stack around 45k I think

Full ring - UTG + 1 Raises to 2500 at BB 1000, antes a hundo
Mid position calls
Button - oldish guy, perhaps 45, not been out of line too much makes it 8K

I'm in the SB with   Aspades Ks and make it 19K - out of around 80K

Fold fold, after a slight dwell Button jams and its now 45K to call the jam

WUG ?

Well I assume u didn't 4 bet to fold a hand this strong? I think the most interesting decision is what to do before you've 4 bet

yep, maybe, I think the button has a really narrow range here - 3 hands, maybe 4

Surely no way you can fold now?

Yh think I would rather fold than voluntarily put more chips in, unless I thought the guy on the button was crazy. As played there is absolutely no way I'm folding.

Anyone think flatting the 3b is worth considering here?

Thanks for the replies. Like a few people said probably the most interesting question is whether to and sizing of 4 bet out of blinds.

Obv follow up being are we pot stuck or is a fold the better play to the 5 bet jam. Been discussing it with a fellow old roffler. . He thinks it's a snap and I think fold is good

You're now getting like 2:1 and vs a range of QQ+ and AK you've got what, a little better than 40% equity?

Embarrassing really as wouldn't have expected equity to be as high as 40% ish against that range.

So, from a theoretical perspective, calling off is good here but I guess 'why are we here ?' is a more interesting question.

I did the time honoured switcheroo here and I was actually the button (ho ho, great japes). The SB was some kind of tall, bald, older, Germanic sounding guy who I think may be a pro. Up to that point his main professional attribute seemed to be the ability to call until he was ahead.

His run up to the 4 bet gave me quite a lot of enjoyment as he stated for his audience/fans ' so, there's a raise to 2500, call and now a raise to 8000, hmm ' , cue for vexed look, lots of counting and re-counting of chips and then a proud ' raise' followed by the 19k, followed by a little nudge of the chips to fall over. Genuinely found all the posturing hilarious.

I thought the re-raise out of the blinds to the action so far was pretty bad/reckless/pointless and it was interesting to hear pads perspective that he would have folded to the 3 bet so 'why are we here ?' never happens for the SB. I might well fold there too although I think there's some kind of case for raise/folding - not sure what that case is but I'm sure it's there.

Haha, some license in the narrative for disguise purposes

Looks younger than the Sicilian to be fair, and he's 46, almost 47.
