Title: RIP Jonah Lomu Post by: Ironside on November 18, 2015, 02:02:36 AM one awesome rugby player
Title: Re: RIP Jonah Lomu Post by: The Camel on November 18, 2015, 02:02:58 AM Literally the only rugby player I would switch the television over to watch.
Awesome athlete, would have made an unstoppable NFL running back. Seemed like a nice guy too. RIP Title: Re: RIP Jonah Lomu Post by: tikay on November 18, 2015, 07:59:07 AM That is awful news, he was only 40. He had been ill for some time of course, & his career was shortened by his illness. In full flight, he took a bit of stopping. A real one of a kind. Bill McLaren RIP, a great player Title: Re: RIP Jonah Lomu Post by: baldock92 on November 18, 2015, 10:16:53 AM Awful news, RIP

Title: Re: RIP Jonah Lomu Post by: rinswun on November 18, 2015, 02:10:31 PM A hero of mine growing up. I remember reading his autobiography after the 1995 World Cup. Inspirational man, inspirational story. RIP.

Definitely the most entertaining player I ever watched on a Rugby pitch. Absolutely loved the guy as a kid. He single handedly got me into watching Rugby. Title: Re: RIP Jonah Lomu Post by: DaveShoelace on November 18, 2015, 03:53:01 PM I know nothing about Rugby but have seen plenty of his performances, he was one of those guys who transcended his sport. Seemed like a nice guy too.
Title: Re: RIP Jonah Lomu Post by: Marky147 on November 18, 2015, 04:00:12 PM Was an absolute monster, and hugely entertaining, as Cos said.

Title: Re: RIP Jonah Lomu Post by: nirvana on November 18, 2015, 06:23:10 PM Was watching some highlights from '95.
As well as the obvious attributes, I'd forgotten what an all round skilful player he was. Sad news Title: Re: RIP Jonah Lomu Post by: Sheriff Fatman on November 18, 2015, 07:23:34 PM It's a tragedy that someone who was virtually unstoppable on the Rugby field has died so young. There are a number of players in today's game with a similar physique but when he came to prominence in the 90s there literally was no-one else like him.
The obvious assumption is that it will be related to his kidney condition, but it was a complete shock to wake up to this news, particularly having seen him so recently on TV during the World Cup. Saw the footage again today of the Haka he took part in as part of the promo campaign, with the headline of Jonah Lomu's final Haka, and I found it tough to watch without feeling emotional. Thoughts go out to his wife and young family. Title: Re: RIP Jonah Lomu Post by: TightEnd on November 19, 2015, 03:26:55 PM (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CUKC35-WIAA4sZq.jpg)
