Title: Black Friday
Post by: TightEnd on November 23, 2015, 05:33:11 PM
"Black Friday is almost with us - the day where bargain hunters across the country (and world) try and grab themselves a great deal heading into the festive period.

The annual shopping bonanza has been a huge hit in America for years, but now shoppers on this side of the pond can look forward to a day of huge discounts as more and more UK retailers get in on the fun and games.

An estimated £810 MILLION was splashed out on Black Friday in the UK last year - more than double the year before - as websites crashed and people fought in the aisles to grab deals,"

i have never got involved at all in this. do you? does it modify your shopping behaviour?

what are the best bargains to be found, online or in store and where?

Personally I'm not that fussed.  If I want something I'd generally buy it if I can afford it rather than wait for Black Friday (that may or may not have what I want in the sale).  Things to tend to be quite item specific rather than a sweeping 20% off all stuff.

Thought this was a good offer, taken from HotUKDeals

"on cyber Monday air new Zealand are to offer return flights from London to Los Angeles at £199.. outbound and return flights are for selected dates in February 2016 which are outbound 1,2,3,8 and 9. returning 8,9,10,11,15,16 and 17 February only.
deal goes live on November 30th at 10am ,,,,airnewzealand.co.uk/cybermonday.
it also says there will be other great offers on the day but does not say what those will be."

Amazing value but I'm not looking to go to LA in Feb despite the good price.  In fact if I could go, I'd possibly look into this.

If I just wanted to spend for the sake of it I'd love it but it doesn't change my spending habits.

That's pretty awesome. Only 100 seats on offer http://www.airnewzealand.co.uk/cyber-monday-flight-deals

Normal price seems to be £400 return, which also seems very cheap

If I was a young poker pro, I'd love to hop over and play the LA poker classic for a few days.  Would be a great spur of the moment trip.

I've used it to book hotels in Vegas, and odd bits on Amazon.

hopefully retailers will learn from last year debacle and be ready.

MS were ridic with forecasting and managing the whole process and took weeks to recover.

You'll see a number spread the sales period over a number of days.  I note Asda arent doing anything this year.

I work for a carrier in the UK and the industry is expecting anything between 30-33% increase in volume over the next week.
