1st December, time to open those Advent calenders :D

Did anyone get any good ones for themselves or children?    Sadly nothing like these (http://metro.co.uk/2015/10/30/12-christmas-advent-calendars-for-grown-ups-with-absinthe-and-beauty-treats-5470615/) in our house but we got our daughter a Smiggle one which she's over the moon with.

I quite enjoy reading the little bible ones with just pictures in these days, I'm not religious at all but I find them a pleasant read in the morning.

how much does a routine advent calendar cost these days?

mine are all too old. (code for they didn't ask for one and werent bought one)

My mum still picks me one up every year. I either binge eat them on Dec 1st or forget about them until Christmas Day.

Seem to have got an upgrade - a Maltesers one for this Christmas. Usually it's one from Poundland with the awful powdery chocolate.

Haven't opened the first window, so a bit of sweat to see if it's Malteser in there or a bit of chocolate shaped like baby Jesus or something.

Sure they were a quid in tesco's with the chocolates last week.  Kids have got two each already, so not bought one.

Can you still get Advent Calendars with no Chocolate?
Never had a choc when I was little - just got to look forward to the big reveal of a picture of Jesus on Dec 25th.

Buyers can be both frugal and ignorant of the basis of the celebration at the same time.

My son has got the same Cadbury one, was £2. His reasoning was that the chocolate in the Cadbury one is better than that in the children's character ones

Get into the festive season with this very grown-up whisky advent calendar. Behind each of the 24 doors lies a different 3cl miniature bottle of very different whiskies, from big names to new brands and unusual finds. Examples include Glenfiddich, Balvenie, Auchentoshan Three Wood and triple malt Scotch Whisky Monkey Shoulder.

We do have one of these, it was a gift from an Auntie and apparently quite hard to get.  Chocolate is more appealing these days, well that's what Christmas is about after all ;)

Love the idea but at lol£250 think I might skip it.  Maybe if they had 50cl bottles behind each one.

They have a "cheap" one and a "premium" one.  Not sure which one has "triple malt scotch whisky monkey shoulder" in, but it really doesn't appeal at all.
