Shame to lose him from Sky Sports (I guess he's leaving SS's)

Owned by Peter Lin (major shareholder in Salford City FC, after being approached by GNev).

I'm astonished, never saw that coming.

Love(d?) his work on Sky Sports.

I honestly thought Tighty was being mischievous when he started the thread & deliberately confusing him with his bro.

He is by far the best analyst I have listened to .

Never really liked him as a player , always scowling and miserable , thought I would hate
him as an analyst/presenter but could not have been proved more wrong.

Think he will be successful whatever he does in life , some people have just got it.

Loved his enthusiasm in the documentary  Out of their League.

Didn't even realise that Phil Neville is the interim coach there and he'll be in charge for the game against Barcelona on Sunday.

Great pundit

Amazing he has got such a great gig as a first job tbh no doubt helped by Peter lim.

Be interesting to see if Peter Lim will still only buy players from jorge mendes clan as he has done since taking over.

The fans are not happy and the very fair accusation is that the previous coach was told to play jorge mendes players or else

:)

Was in the process of trying to find someone to get me on G.Neville to become next Fulham manager at 100-1 when SSN reported this. Incred scenes! Shame to lose him from SS though for sure. SS should put in a bid for Jenas imo.

Poor Phil when they called him into the office to discuss the managers job, then asked him for his brother phone number.

Agree with every word.

When he got the Sky Sports gig, he spent all summer readying himself, being coached in how to work in a TV Studio, & learning the intricacies of that giant I-pad plasma thing. Result was that from his very first show, he looked like he had been doing it for years. Few of us thought he could be objective as to, say, Man U, Man C, Liverpool, or ex-colleagues, but he was spot on from Day One, & we soon came to love his analysis. Remember, it was only a few years ago that Andy Gray performed that role. Chalk & cheese.

Yesterday, in his Valencia Press Conference, he said "everything I set out to do in life, I set out with a dream & aspiration to be the best". Well he was mighty good as a player for all those years, & blew us away on Sky Sports.

Valencia are next, & then it's only a matter of time before the inevitable - Gary Neville, Manager, Manchester United. And Man U will rediscover the glories all we neutrals so loved.

Apologies for the man love, but to my mind, he has the potential to be right up there with Michael O'Leary & Daniel Negreanu. No finer compliment.

Steady on.  The only thing more irritating than Man Utd's smugness was that of Liverpool in the 80s.  Man City FTW.

Misplaced smugness or arrogance is the nut worst thing, but when it's deserved, it's a thing of beauty.

Great photo of Daly , proper chap , another legend in my eyes.

Neville had an easy life but has chosen to , as he put it "stand up and be counted ".

Utmost respect to him.

Surprising how Daniel Negreanu splits opinion.

I think he is quite a good egg but you and Camel really like to put the boot in , you are just

a bit more subtle  ;)

I was also in the ''fucking hell, how has Neville got a pundit job?'' camp, but he impressed from the off and didn't look back. Humble pie was eaten.

Big call to walk away from the Sky Sports gravy train, where I imagine he was earning a very decent wedge to sit in a studio, and jump into the pressures of top level management. Maybe he'd just had enough of Carragher's whine voice.

Dear Lord, don't remind me.

Going back to Andy Gray, of course, he famously rejected the chance to manage Everton as I recall, preferring the safety of the TV Studio, &, some might say, the occasional grope.
