What exactly will a 'team manager' do?  Like Liv?  Seems a comical idea to me.  Trying to turn poker into 20/20 cricket.  10 years too late imo.  Missed any potential boat they had.

Would struggle to care less.

When the press release says real-time hole cards, do they really mean that? Would seem more WWE than eSport if that's the case.

Only two of them has gone with a poker-y name (Moneymakers & Rounders).

Was expecting the 'Las Vegas Iveys' or the 'Montreal Negreanus' or someink.

Maybe the "Berlin Bots' or the 'Moscow SuperUsers'.

Maybe Antonio could captain the 'LA Piss Pots'.

And so forth.

Will watch if they allow the viewers to randomly change the players hole cards in the middle of the hand. Otherwise no.

GPL players will be compensated with : hourly salary + performance bonuses + % of team revenue (merchandising, ...) + all expenses paid.

I've gone from absolutely hating this idea to quite liking it. It's really all going to be in the execution and I'm not totally convinced on that yet. Trying to create legitimate sustainable poker "stars" for a new generation and using a bunch of last generations increasingly irrelevant stars to front it seems a weird idea to me. I get that they are managers and not players though so maybe that will work.

I hope it works.  Poker needs something new.

Was watching a load of the old poker shows recently.  While most were turbo SnGs, at least they were being made and they tried. 

When did Late Night Poker last have a series?

One thing that annoys me about this is using the word franchise, as if Boris Johnson went out to Malta to bid to have a London team.

It's very much being made for an American audience, so they are using the language of American sports.

I dont care enough to google but on none of the links can I find anything with the original concept.

Is it a fantasy draft type of thing where they pick players and get points for their performance or have players signed up for it? Will it be based on results in the current yearly schedule or will they be running their own tournaments?

the players actually play and they play in a giant cube thing with spectators! At least that's the plan.
