Title: Super Bowl sweat thread
Post by: tikay on February 07, 2016, 09:25:57 AM

Probably useful to use this thread tonight to have all the Super Bowl chit chat, as it'll get lost in Fred amongst all the reality TV shite in there.

Who will be staying up to watch the whole thing?

At home, or with friends somewhere?

Anyone going to a Super Bowl party?

I'm hoping for a low scoring game because I think that will make it more interesting. Carolina will win comfortably if it turns into a shootout.

This is the best defense Carolina will have played against all year and the offensive line for Carolina is a bit of a weakness, although far from terrible. We probably shouldn't underestimate Denver having a few guys who have been here before and who have something to prove.

Bound to be a moment of madness and a moment of unexpected genius.

i saw that somewhere Peyton Manning was 7/1 to be pulled from the game for at least one series

but i can't find the market anywhere

this strikes me as a live one, either through injury (hopefully not) or hes not getting it done and they want Osweiler to air it out

think they did it a fortnight ago? possibly a bit longer ago than that but after peyton came back from his mid season injury. Peyton was struggling, brock came in, got the offense going

obviously in the superbowl is another matter entirely.

Peyton was injured until week 17 when he came in for Brock third quarter I think. Hasn't given up a snap to Brock since.

If Osweiler comes on for a couple of series and throws 2tds for the win could that be enough for MVP? or could it not be won "off the bench"?

The sheet of bets isn't as long as it was last year. I'll be enjoying the game instead.

No Kev for Sky?

BBC have Chappers, Osi, J-Bell and Iron Mike Carlson. That will do very nicely.

Errors have been made. Need panthers by no more than 4 points!

Funchess first td at 20/1
Stewart to go over 3.5 yards

Other bets I can't remember, will check now!

First question of the night from me - why are Denver in their away kit?

Their normal orange is a far better contrast with the Carolina Blue than the white kit is.

Denver are the home team but have a bad record in super bowls in orange. So, they're playing in their away kit.

Title: Re: Super Bowl sweat thread

It's notable that Denver are rushing wide around the outside. They want to stop Cam from going left or right, but forcing him up into the pocket. Carolina have to find an answer for that because Denver can do that all day.

Title: Re: Super Bowl sweat thread
Post by: Newportlad on February 08, 2016, 01:16:40 AM
The Video review is meant to stop them making mistakes.

That was CLEARLY a catch. Cannot see why they would not overturn that decision.
Turned out to be vital, as it directly led to Denvers Defensive touchdown.

I think that I may be the only person that thought that the ball bobbled before he rolled over.
He initially got his hand under it but then the point hit the ground and the ball bobbled, surely that's not a reception.

Has to be the right thing to do. So what if you give them the ball on their own 5 yard line? They just stripsacked Cam there in the last quarter. Worth it to try for 4 more downs. Only a 3 point lead so a field goal keeps it within a single score. Risk v reward is hugely in favour of going for it.

The playcalling on defense is what is making this. Wade Phillips is crushing Shula's offensive system.

Superb catch by Funchess. They need to use him more. Robey can't cover him nine feet in the air.

I managed to avoid the result all day today in a Likely Lads style and watched it tonight. Enjoyed the match and that the defenses were on top. Just kept bugging me that they were saying it was in San Francisco. Santa Clara is 40 miles away! Bring back Candlestick Park!
